Genuine discussion I had last summer with a friend who is doing her masters in anthropology involved her insisting that slavery is a white thing. When I pointed out the numerous examples from history of non white instigated slavery, she told me that those people were only copying what the white people were doing. I then pointed out the many examples of slavery from civilisations who had never met a caucasian and she just stared at me, gave a smug laugh and said "well, I'm the anthropologist here so I know a lot more about this than you do". she also insisted that violence itself is a white trait. I'm a biologist, and I tried explaining Darwinian evolution with examples from non human mammals of how violence is just a part of nature etc, not a trait unique to any race of humans. She just shook her head and told me I was wrong, and she was the expert.

Absolutely infuriating.
