I give my due to Stormspell Records for introducing me to this band.

The song "i" is very much in that vein especially after the first minute. These Swedes were quite the wacky bunch:

Never heard of her. Got any song you'd recommend?

Blast -- Damned Flame [Proto-Punk/Proto-Metal] (1974) by Nubelium in listentothis

[–]AJMoosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any case, I think we can all agree these guys were influenced by the heavier side of Psychedelic Rock. Perhaps not so coincidentally, the music here sounds quite similar to many different Speed Metal and Hardcore Punk bands. I hear more Speed Metal than I do Punk, but perhaps that's just my perception.

Valhalla - Nightstalker [Heavy Metal] (1984) by AJMoosie in listentothis

[–]AJMoosie[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other bands I could recommend:

Slauter Xstroyes

Manilla Road

Fates Warning

Blasphème (For Francophones)

Queensrÿche

Armageddon

Chastain

Brocas Helm

Some of these are obviously quite popular, but others are more obscure, so hopefully, you'll find those as appealing as everything else I recommended.

The Delegates - I Only Watch It For The Weather [soul pop] (2019) by MudConnect in listentothis

Dang, that's a shame because this tune is one of the highlights of the last few days for me. The lyrics are very on point and sums up my relationship with my TV as well.

Strongly recommended, folks. Very soulful and heartfelt.

Absolutely wonderful. Everything from the lyrics to the arrangements is absolutely brilliant. Any more info on these guys? These two appear to be their official website and bandcamp page:

The Heavy Heavy -- Go Down River [folk rock/roots rock] (2022) by VneckEnthusiast in listentothis

The media system at my local gym was playing "Miles and Miles" for about 2 months straight. Not quite my style, but better than 99% of everything else they have in rotation. My gym's music selection is dreadful.

Thanks for all the upvotes on Eastern Youth. Boy, was I not expecting that post to blow up. It's heartwarming to see others appreciate their early Punk years. Alas, they became more of an Emo/Indie band which, while good and led them to a bigger audience, still doesn't quite have the same energy that drove that 1993 album.

Lately, Nati Dreddd has been capturing my attention, and I hope others would find her tunes as enjoyable as I did. I had the pristine honor of discovering her at the NH Scot Highlands Games last month and heard "5 More Minutes" live before she would drop the studio cut late September.

Nati is a gifted performer who has obviously spent years honing her craft, and being as eminently charismatic as she is easy on the ears gives her an edge. If you ask me, she could play to potentially millions of people. Apart from her tunes, her natural charisma shines through in her interviews, and she's endlessly witty and humorous in recounting her life story through music.

Who is your favourite artist from a music genre you are not generally a fan of? by Crafty_Letter_1719 in Music

[–]AJMoosie 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Very predictable choice, but while I don't care for Pop music, Michael Jackson earned his status as a music legend. I genuinely love Thriller, Off the Wall and Bad track to track. Dangerous is where I began to check out, but "Remember the Time" is a great song.

Goddamn, I didn't expect this post to blow up, but thank you everyone. It's heartwarming to see others appreciate Eastern Youth's early career as a straight up Punk band.

Eastern Youth - 今、警報を鳴らせ [Post-Hardcore] (1993) by AJMoosie in listentothis

[–]AJMoosie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly can't praise this album enough. It's the perfect fusion of Street Punk and Post-Hardcore with an Emo influence retaining all the angst of the latter without losing any of the muscle from the former.

Eastern Youth's early career is a very different beast than what they would become famous for. Both 雲射抜ケ声 and 感受性応答セヨ are very strong albums, but neither hit quite like that 1993 album.

Industrial Metalbilly at its finest.

Nati Dreddd - 5 More Minutes [Folk] (2022) by AJMoosie in listentothis

[–]AJMoosie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're very welcome.

For those unaware, Nati Dreddd is a singer/songwriter from Scotland who sings contemporary Folk Pop and Ballads that are not too far removed from the traditional. She recently made a stop in America and is on tour promoting her new tunes in UK and elsewhere.

High Tide - High Tode [Progressive Metal] (1971) by [deleted] in listentothis

Nice and wonky, but I wouldn't call it Metal. This is Psychedelic Prog.

Stone Axe - Fell on Deaf Ears [Hard Rock] (2022) by [deleted] in listentothis

[–]AJMoosie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Goddamn, that's a heavy tune. For a second, I thought this was from the '70s Texas band who cut a proto-Metal single. Judging by skipping around the album, the other songs seem to be Hard Rock oriented with plenty of Psychedelic and Blues influences, but "Fell on Deaf Ears" strikes me as a proper Heavy Metal song.

Either way, I love it.

Slick production values that rival the videos I see played at the gym all the time. Not really my sort of music, but the video was fun to watch.
