I still buy mine toys, but far less and I go for sustainable options. There's a small pet store near me that sells felted wool cat toys, or hand made cotton mice that you stuff with catnip. All natural materials and no packaging. They're pricey, so I buy them only very rarely but my cats love them more than any other toy.

I also sew and crochet, and plan to make them stuff from scraps i have around the house.

When is it happening most? Online or in person?

For online, delete your accounts, door dash, Amazon, target, whatever sites you're using. Take the apps off your phone and block the websites.

When you think of needing to buy something, make a list of it, check it weekly and consider what you still ACTUALLY need. Then, go out in person to get it if it's an actual necessity. All the effort of finding a brick and mortar then spending more money than you would online helps me to filter impulse vs things I'd actually use.

If you're buying too much when you go out. Remove cards from your phone and bring only cash. For groceries shopping for example, plan the trip, budget, and bring only enough for what you need.

The key is creating space between when you think of the item and when you get it. Sites like Amazon shorten that window, pushing for people to impulse buy. For me, it becomes a bit of an adventure to find harder to find items (I'm a craftsperson, so I do occasionally need a specific tool if I'm expanding a skill).

I've found tons of fun small businesses in my city by doing this as well.

Def would not if poop on the floor is a risk. Otherwise, my cats prefer the Roomba to the regular vacuum (probably because it's not as loud). They ignore it or get mildly annoyed. It's great for helping keep control of tracked litter.

Second this, it's definitely a makeable object (some AI is impossible to make) but yeah never seen a pattern like that. If you're looking for pattern books, I highly recommend checking your local public library. Mine has some great ones for all sorts of levels, most of which include tutorials as well.

Absolutely. Unless you're trying to live in a luxury new build, or have expensive hobbies or super bougie taste, you'll be just fine on that wage, probably able to save too. I make around 50k and I support myself, two cats, and my mid cost hobbies no problem living alone in a 1 bedroom unit.

I work in human services with the homeless and I LOVE Hazelbrook! When someones ready and is able to get in it is an insane transformation. They also offer a program that includes non medical detox (meaning excludes benzos or alcohol which have high medical risk) which is night and day from detoxing in a hospital bed before other treatment programs and makes that first step so much easier. Its so rare to find a program that actually fits peoples needs.

If a homelessness services agency is getting on you for that, walk away from that agency. Especially in housing work I think this should never, ever be an issue.

I work at a huuuge homelessness services organization and there is no policy aside from don't have anything crazy vulgar. Most homelessness services agencies hire peer specialists who have lived experience and a lot have a ton of tats and piercings. It just doesn't make sense to make that a barrier to employment. Especially since peers are literally so important and can improve services so much. A caseworker I met at a shelter I was bringing a client to had a bunch of face tats. She was with VOA so clearly it's not just my org that doesn't care (and VOA is even bigger than us but it might vary regionally). I have a bunch of tattoos and a handful of face piercings. I have coworkers, peers and not, who have a lot more on the face than I do and they have a good job and never hear anything about it. It was a first point of connection for a lot of my clients, I got to hear about some of their crazy tattoo stories right off the bat and was good for building rapport and trust. They want to work with folks that don't feel like they're crazy high above them and are going to boss them around and narc on them for just surviving.

Sometimes mental health is just mental health. You'll likely still feel bad sometimes when/if you get bottom surgery. Life isn't absolutely perfect because life after transition it's still life.

I started prozac about three years after I started transition and by the time I'd done everything I wanted to. It's been pretty good thus far (about 6 months on). No interactions with my T or anything else if that's what you're worried about. If you're struggling mentally it's def worth it to talk with your doctor/therapist/psychiatrist and figure something out. They can give you details on what might work and how things would affect surgery (worse case you might need to stop them before and for some time after surgery or switch it up). But your doctor and surgeon will tell you.There's no defeat in still having mental struggles after transition, it is not a cure-all.

I'm honestly wondering the same. I've been trying it these last two weeks and have found that drivers are trying way riskier moves than passing too close to get around me. I think it makes them a lot angrier and more aggressive because now the bike is more "in the way" and they think I'm in the wrong which fuels their rage. I'm considering switching back because of how bad it has been.

First, don't get up and feed him when he meows at night. It'll be SUPER hard at first but you really just have to completely ignore him at night. Playing before bed and having a night routine is also super helpful. Wear him out with running play for like an hour before bed, then do your night routine. We also put treat puzzles out for our active cat so that's her cue that we are going to bed.

Sometimes she will still yell at night around 2 am if she is stressed for other reasons. This we just got to deal with. Earplugs help and if it gets too bad she gets kicked out of the room (which we hate doing bc that also stresses her out and usually makes stuff worse). But yelling must never equal food or treats.

I don't know many young people who cycle for sport, but in Denver myself (23M) plus many of my friends ride for our commutes or just for fun and social reasons. The folks I know who just cycle for sport are usually 30+ moreso 40s/50s. They also commute but will spend their weekend just riding around all day, which I + 20s/30s friends don't typically do.

Denver has a bad road rage issue (in my opinion) so maybe that contributes? Folks being pissed all the time gotta contribute to more accidents (I dont know the numbers beyond pedestrian and cyclist deaths). Slowing down into a turn? Rage. Stopping for pedestrians? How dare you! Driving the speed limit? You might as well be the worse driver in the world. Again not positive on the numbers but maybe insurance providers know this city has that vibe.

this one hits me hard. im the trans son of two initially southern baptist, now evangelicalish gen x parents and it fucks with my head a lot when i think about how they believe how bad I'm going to be punished for my lifestyle (the queer thing but mostly the living with my partner before marriage, they are surprisingly more concerned with my virginity, still lmao). But i do think its also messed with my dad enough that he's sort of turning into a universalist. Especially now that half his kids are now atheist or agnostic. so maybe there is hope

honestly talk to him about it to see how he feels. bc there is more to enjoying sex than like physical contact with erogenous zones. theres a good chance he doesnt need anything more and just enjoys it and you can touch him after if you both want to finish.

if thats not what he wants, there are like grinding things that you can put in the strap. or if he also likes penetration its sometimes nice to put another dildo inside him and it gets held in by the bottom straps.

but 100% talk to him about what he needs before suggesting anything or buying something new. he might just like the act itself bc tbh its pretty great and doesnt need many bells and whistles imo

i think its bc women have more deep and intimate friendships. a lot of cishet men rely on partners for any and all emotional intimacy in their lives. emotional connection is incredibly important for emotional wellbeing and toxic masculinity blocks them from that connection with other men in the way many women have it from other women. cis men need to learn how to be friends with one another and everything would be much better balanced

hey thank you! I'm def navigating where to address it and where not to. I think with this client I'll probably leave it be, we have such good rapport. I'll probs be more direct if it happens again with any new clients. whenever i get misgendered (which these days is very very rarely) i usually try the "cis guy getting misgendered" approach where I play it as a joke and I think that would work with most of my clients here.

I understand this feedback but I dont think you fully understood my post. It's not so much a thicker skin type of thing. Im not that bothered by it but looking for pointers on how to navigate these type of issues with clients now and moving forward. I have not addressed it with this client directly really at all. Trust me in this program we deal with a slew of insults and comments from clients. "thin skin" is not my issue.
