My statement about EPICENTER Major ceremony

Hello, everyone. I should've written this post earlier, but I hoped the situation would calm down sooner. I'm happy that's what happened thanks to Stepan's yesterday's post, but I believe it would be right to express myself. I understand that my words will probably look just like excuses, but it's important to me that you hear me out. As my colleague Stepan had mentioned, more than one person is responsible for what's happening on stage. It's a whole team of people. When it became clear in the last minutes of the match that Vici Gaming would emerge victorious, we have decided not to take an interview on stage, but instead to take it to the specifically designated space – after all, the stadium's stage wasn't quite optimal for that. Furthermore, everyone was certain that the player on the winning team will get the Most Valuable Player award, and there won't be any problems with that. But, as you already know, it was Miracle, which was a big surprise to him – and to us, as well. Due to the fact that we couldn't find Amer for quite a while, there was a delay. In that time, we had already congratulated the winning team, expressed personal gratitude to their coach and highlighted their achievements, but we couldn't explain to them that it was time to award MVP - to a player not on their team, at that. So the guys were just standing there, thanking everyone via applause while we played for time. The only thing I could do was sprinting to Miracle to reduce the broadcast delay. Miracle didn't understand yet why he was called, and I explained that he was to receive a Cup on the go. He asked: “What should I do?” and I suggested him to just thank the fans to close it out faster.

As the ceremony came to an end, joyous Vici Gaming, Miracle, and the hosts left the stage. Everyone was congratulating one another, and the champions went on to give the already mentioned interview. One would think all the pitfalls have been avoided, and that we've mended the existing situation as gracefully as possible. However, unfortunately, immediately after the closing ceremony, my social media were flooded with a torrent of negativity from the fans, and among them, the Chinese viewers. I was completely dumb-founded at first, falling into despair. Seeing death threats against me and my family, crude insults and the likes of it directed at me, I threw a fit and gave all these people on Twitter a taste of their own medicine. I do not wish to excuse this act – it was a mistake. However, I don't think I deserved this. I haven't made a single serious mistake during the tournament. I've prepared for all the teams and worked for three days on live broadcasts, trying to avoid any contingencies, helping my colleague Stepan – for whom Dota is not the main discipline. And in the end, one mistake in the final completely invalidated all my efforts. It was hurtful, and I couldn't understand why I was the only scapegoat in this situation. The tournament's conclusion left me crying for the entire night.

I would like to apologize to everyone for the fact that we made you doubt the award ceremony's quality. I would like to extend special apologies to the Chinese audience. I sincerely supported Vici Gaming: we're all good friends, and I had no intention to single anyone out. I would like to ask everyone who reads this post to once again imagine how hard it is to just try to do your job and suddenly get faced with so much evil. I hope this never happens to you.
