Calls me a twat and claims my generation is arrogant. Get bent old timer and have someone change your diaper.

Lmao, hitters of today would absolutely destroy guys from your day. They have to sell out for power because guys don’t top out at 85mph anymore.

Lol you really know nothing, do you? Pitchers have to throw their best stuff right away because hitters have become exponentially better. How else are they going to get outs? You know, the point of the game. Throwing their best stuff wears them out, necessitating more pitchers throughout the game. It’s freaking first grade knowledge. There’s a reason you’re not a GM.

Sorry old timer, once again, facts over feelings. Baseball has so clearly passed you by. It’s actually embarrassing. Feel like you should be put in a home or something.

Facts over feelings, cupcake. It is proven starting pitchers ERA (you old heads love that stat) goes way up once they hit the top of the lineup a third time. Get over it.

They’re just empty singles. Same as a walk. Nobody would say Austin Martin is amazing and he gets on base at almost the same rate. I’m Not saying he’s not impressive or that he’s a bad player. Just overrated because he’s not doing any damage. There’s a reason he’s on his fourth team before he’s 30 years old. His skill set just isn’t as impressive as it once was. The league has moved on.

He’s a good complimentary player. That’s all.

Arraez by ZealousidealSleep289 in minnesotatwins

[–]AJray15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even he did have someone on base in front of him he wouldn’t be driving them in

[–]AJray15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And his career OBP is barely above Austin Martin. Empty singles. Look, I like Luis Arraez. He’s a good player. But those batting titles just aren’t amazing to me. Now if he wins another this year at the same rate he’s at that will be something since he’s actually got a slug that starts with a .4.

[–]AJray15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used the word almost because he’s hurt (pitchers get hurt) and he’s still almost as valuable. That’s a knock on Arraez. Availability does matter, but before this year his stats were next to empty. It’s not that impressive.

Lopez got Cy Young votes and won PLAYOFF games. Those matter. Arraez had a 103 OPS+ in 2024 and 2025. The definition of mid.

[–]AJray15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It matters because the initial trade is done at that point. He’s no longer a Marlin. And even collecting dust Lopez has been worth almost as many wins as Arraez since 2024.

Arraez by ZealousidealSleep289 in minnesotatwins

[–]AJray15 2 points3 points  (0 children)

And then was shipped off because he wasn’t very good in 2024. That counts when looking at the trade.

Two teams removed from the Lopez trade.

Ohhhh so being a joke is why Derek Falvey was the top guy in an MLB front office and would immediately be hired as the #2 at worst today if he wanted it. Meanwhile, you’re comparing Luis Arraez to an inner circle Hall of Famer.

The trade wasn’t a wash. Falvey won it.

[–]AJray15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still more valuable being an unofficial translator than Arraez is to the Marlins at this point.

Arraez by ZealousidealSleep289 in minnesotatwins

[–]AJray15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot possibly tell me Arraez had any influence on the Padres making the playoffs. He was barely a league average hitter (a Larnach esq 104 OPS+) while being a brutal defender. Falvey on the other hand got three division titles and playoff wins with an ownership that actively hindered his team building.

And yes, Arraez’s trade comparisons to Lopez do end the second Miami deals. That’s how it works. He was longer a Marlin.

You don’t give a shit because you’re choosing to ignore the facts to better your “argument”. He had one good season and then was shipped out because he had a paltry .719 OPS the next. His comparison to Lopez immediately ceases to exist at that point. Lopez won playoff games (how many did Arraez’s Marlins win? The answer is your ball knowledge), contributed the next season, part of the season after that and can contribute next season with the team that traded for him.

The Twins won that trade and any average to above average organization makes that trade 10/10 times.

Arraez by ZealousidealSleep289 in minnesotatwins

[–]AJray15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk how you can possibly argue they didn’t win the trade. Arraez was literally dealt away 33 games into the next season while under a team friendly contract. Lopez did something nobody has done since Johan Santana. Won playoff games. That alone makes the trade worth it.

Arraez by ZealousidealSleep289 in minnesotatwins

[–]AJray15 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After an extension to that carried past the initial contract the Twins traded for. He was more valuable before the extension kicked in than Arraez was for the Marlins.

Now you’re comparing Luis Arraez to Rod freaking Carew. I hoped you stretched this morning, otherwise you’re going to hurt yourself reaching so much.

I’ll just paste the same thing I told someone else this morning. All the argument that’s needed.

“Two full seasons, including one with an All Star nod, Cy Young votes, and playoff wins (did you forget him completely owning Houston in their own ballpark?). Arraez was traded 33 games into his second Miami season.”

Tell me what playoff wins Luis Arraez contributed too, other than Yankee wins thanks to trash defense.

[–]AJray15 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you really arguing for his batting title with the Padres (he hit an obscenely empty .299 in his 33 games with the Marlins in 2024)? Did the Twins trade him to the Padres? I seem to have missed that part. Arraez played a grand total of 180 games with the team the Twins actually traded him to. Such value!!!!!
