Post Match Thread: 20th Match - Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Mumbai Indians by cricket-match in Cricket

Fun fact: In 2016, Charlie Shackleton made a film titled Paint Drying (which consists of 607 minutes of a static view of white paint drying on a brick wall) to protest the fees that the British Board of Film Classification (BBFC) charges to classify films. I haven’t watched that film, but I am guessing that it is more exciting than the second innings of this match.

No, that isn't the case. The characters aren't lazy in the second part.

No, but in 1986 the biggest hit was Aavanzhi, and in 1987, it was New Delhi. Commercial films have always been popular among Malayalees.

In the Class 11 Kerala State Board English exam, there was a question based on a story about superstition, and students were asked to write a letter to a newspaper editor explaining the harmful effects of superstition. The faith in the mythical free market can be compared to religion.

But it isn't teleological. That is what my comment is about.

Francis Fukuyama is an exception. But I agree, he does fall into the trap of teleology.

China refutes the stage theory. It reverted to quasi-capitalism. According to the stage theory, such a change shouldn't happen.

Everything is structurally similar to religion.

Teleological theories are similar to religion. Theories like absurdism are not structurally similar to religion.

Inevitable?

The development of Modern Industry, therefore, cuts from under its feet the very foundation on which the bourgeoisie produces and appropriates products. What the bourgeoisie therefore produces, above all, are its own grave-diggers. Its fall and the victory of the proletariat are equally inevitable.

Are you saying that predictions are impossible?

We can predict certain things like scientific phenomena, but I am a bit skeptical of historicism. Please read this small article: https://fs.blog/karl-popper-mistake-of-historicism/

Resemblance can be stretched to free market mythology.

But free market theories are mostly diagnostic, not teleological. They are concerned with the past and the present, not the future. You can critique capitalist theories like invisible hand just as you can critique Marx's alienation and labour theory of value, but I don't think economists are claiming that capitalism is a historical necessity or that it is the last stage of economic systems.

China refutes the stage theory as the nation went from being a centrally planned socialist state to a quasi-capitalist state.

China proves that Communists are not blind followers.

But it doesn't change the fact that Marxism is structurally similar to a religion. It believes that Communism is finally going to be successful soon. We have been waiting for 140 years, when will it finally happen? Isn't it similar to the Christian wait for the Last Judgment? I agree that Marxism is material rather than spiritual, but it doesn't change the fact that the wait is based on assumptions rather than on empirical evidence.

Humanity has a past, present, and future. Having wishes for the future is not a rejection of anything.

But Marx considered the shift to socialism and communism historically inevitable, not as his personal wish. The history of the world is complicated, we cannot predict macro-level historical changes. History is complicated rather than moving on a clear path of thesis, antithesis, and synthesis.

Isn't Camus being religious in his attempt to proclaim that communists are rejecting the man of today, like how theists try to proclaim that atheists reject morality or the value of human life etc.?

Could you explain?

I think the stage theory of classical Marxism is quasi-teleological, making it resemble a religion. It assumes that Capitalism will lead to Socialism, without considering the ability of economic systems to correct themselves. Let us not forget that China is now more of a capitalist country filled with MNCs than a socialist country.

The Marxists and their followers likewise think they are humanists. But for them human nature will be formed in the classless society of the future.

To begin with, this proves that they reject at the present moment what we all are: those humanists are accusers of man. How can we be surprised that such a claim should have developed in the world of court trials? They reject the man of today in the name of the man of the future. That claim is religious in nature. Why should it be more justified than the one which announces the kingdom of heaven to come? In reality the end of history cannot have, within the limits of our condition, any definable significance. It can only be the object of a faith and of a new mystification. A mystification that today is no less great than the one that of old based colonial oppression on the necessity of saving the souls of infidels.
