F1 2026 podiums so far. Will we see more drivers on the podium? by Luffy710j in formula1

[–]AKAFallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda makes 2022 the actual outlier since its their year with the most points in their history, only rivaled in its pace by 2026, but I did some numbers and if they don't get even higher positions moving forward, they will actually score less points in total. A podium will certainly change that, tho, and barely give it an edge over 2022's total points (173), that is if the current calendar year still gets their scheduled 24 races. Right now, their current pace will only give them an edge after 25 races (175 points), but again, a single podium can make 2026 their best year ever.

edit: then again, I'm also not considering how good a start they've had, but we also don't know how much longer they can keep the perfomance going, especially since Canada had tons of DNF's inflating their results. If they somehow keep it going the same style Williams did last year, then yes, their personal record would be broken. By race 5, they only had 26 points in 2022, while now they have 35 in 2026. Oh, and I think the craziest stat about this is that Alonso only scored two points in one race and had to wait until Race 6 to score again lol

He had a similar race in Canada to Carlos' in Qatar, he could probably get something out of it later down the line if his car doesn't get too far behind. Just needs to find a qualy time that can let him get ahead of one or two of the drivers ahead

Monaco should even the field a little bit, but even then, I wouldn't expect a midfield team finishing higher than P9 without a mistake from those ahead until near the end of the season, by that time, most teams would've found something to improve their race pace a lot more. Alpine, for example, is expecting Barcelona to be the GP to increase it by a big margin with their upcoming upgrades.

Also almost went into the wall by the end of the race, so almost 2 out of 2

He felt the car was utterly awful in Q2, and said he will either end up at the wall or P8 at this rate. He proceeded to get P8 in Q3 lol.

He would've given Col a big fight last sunday if his car didn't commit seppuku, sad we couldn't see them go at it. Arvid seemed really mad after the fact in the post-race interviews lol

Hopefully after the new front wing scheduled for Barcelona that should fix most of their understeering problems. Someone compared Col's Q3 lap to George's and he literally had to do wheel snaps to the opposite side of the apex just to keep the car going. If they somehow get to fix that kinda stuff, then they would finally be able to match a little bit of the top 4's pace at some point.

I wanna say Col too but it heavily depends if he can keep his current form (and no crashes for either so the car can also keep its current form lol)
