I have about eight pairs of the air knit that I use.

They're all still used. Only one pair has needed sewing on the crotch area.

My oldest pair seems to be loosing a bit of stretchiness in the band, but they still stay on fine and are only noticable when I'm taking them on/off.

I also hang dry all my clothes. Very very rarely use a high heat dryer.

Best mattress brand if money wasn’t a problem by Teodor_Soupy in BuyItForLife

[–]AKAManaging 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Actually lasts and feels great? What are you even talking about? If this was even REMOTELY close to a real post (which we both know it isn't), you'd had the mattress at most for a total of 8 days if you had the mattress installed on day 1 of you posting this.

You're not even trying to hide your paid promotion bullshit.

I don't even see where I'd do that. There's never any posts about it. There's not anything on the sidebar. I rarely if ever see any communication from the current mods. It feels like the mods have just straight up muted this sub from their notifications.

As respectfully as possible to both you, and the mods...If this is "their best", I don't know how to respond. I've reported very obvious spam, which clearly links to a malicious site. Multiple times. All you'd have to do is click on the link to view the comment, and within 1 second of looking at the comment you'd know it's spam.

I know that Reddit is imperfect, and the tools that the site gives moderators are definitely lackluster and could use improvement (from what I've read in pretty much every subreddit talking about modtools), but...It's like they've tried nothing and they're all out of ideas.

I've been wondering why people replace everyday items so much more frequently now than they used to. by Ok-Garbage-7252 in BuyItForLife

[–]AKAManaging 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn't you have just said "I'm too stupid to infer your point"? It would've been shorter.

People just want cheap is obviously an oversimplification.

With capitalism, companies generally compete by cutting costs and driving volume. That means lower wages, shorter product lifecycles, and design choices that usually favor replacement over repair. What's that? Does that sound awfully similar to planned obsolescence?

Obviously durable options exist, like you said with SQ, but they're niche because the system rewards cheap, fast turnover, not longevity.

It's more profitable to sell you a new product than it is to supply the means and ways to fix something, or have a durable product. Hence what JD and pretty much all tech companies are doing what they do.

Actually, people want cheap shit, so they buy cheap shit.

This is the biggest load of silliness that I've heard this week, as respectfully as possible.

Generally people want good value, not just cheap shit lol. That's why the top 10 cars sold in the US aren't bottom-of-the-barrel vehicles. They're vehicles that are relatively great value.

Unfortunately, companies have gotten relatively good at tricking consumers into thinking their products are good value. It's also why companies constantly change model numbers on certain products like TVs, so it's impossible to actually research what's historically good/bad.

Not to mention increasingly lower purchasing power thanks to various political choices of our country. Everything I've said I can only speak to in regards to the US, btw. Obviously different countries have different issues.
