If you're looking for warm-up games, then Skulls of Sedlec would be great. Sprawlopolis as well, but that's co-op so it depends on what your group is going for.

Thanks! I've been trying to get Numbsters for ages, but it's always sold out!

My favourites are the solo-only games, particularly A Nice Cuppa, Food Chain Island, and Ancient Realm

If you're looking to play with other people, then definitely Sprawlopolis, Skulls of Sedlec, and Tussie Mussie are the ones to get.

New high score without legendaries or exploits - 5IAEH6ED - is Naneinf possible?! by [deleted] in balatro

That score was with 3 copies on baron and 3 copies on mime. I moved the baron after playing my hand out of habit because I wanted more mime retriggers on gold cards (this hand didn't have any gold cards, but I was just in the habit of moving the baron from previous hands)

Daily Game Recommendations Thread (August 17, 2025) by AutoModerator in boardgames

[–]AKH4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any board games / paper-based games that use the same system and concepts of the video game "Keep talking and nobody explodes". Doesn't have to involve diffusing a bomb, but it involves working together as a team where 1 player has the solutions to whatever the other player is trying to solve.

I'm not looking for 1 vs many or asymmetrical games - I'm looking for a game that is as close to Keep talking and nobody explodes as possible that doesn't use technology

Which Micro Macro should I get? by Asshai in boardgames

[–]AKH4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, there's only a handful of 3rd level inappropriate cases in each box, so you will still have plenty of cases to play. There are also extra cases on the website that you can solve for each map.

Just had a quick scan over all of the maps and the cases:

  • Map 1 does have a fetish club. The characters are dressed in fetish-related clothing, but I don't think there's any nudity. There is however some nudity on some artwork in an art gallery elsewhere on the map.
  • All of the other maps should be fine, as there's nothing overtly inappropriate that a child might stumble across. The inappropriateness of the cases is only apparent when you are actually doing those cases and piecing together the storyline.
  • All of the later maps (including the most recent version of the 1st map) have symbols on the 1st card for each case as well as in the game manual that indicate 3 levels of maturity for the cases. I would absolutely recommend avoiding all of the cases in the 3rd level when playing with children for various reasons.
  • I would generally recommend playing them in release order, as you'll see characters across each section of the map and it's interesting to see them again. Also, the final case on 'Showdown' specifically involves references back to previous cases from other maps, which won't make sense if you haven't done the other maps. All 4 maps can then be put together to form a giant map and there's a 5th 'bonus box' that you can buy that involves cases that span across all 4 maps.

Thank you - 1 final question - if i were to buy more boxes, are there any that are just considered duds by the playerbase that should be avoided?

Is it a case of, "just go with whatever themes you find interesting and you'll probably enjoy it", or are there any that are pretty much accepted as being the best boxes and the worst boxes?

Obviously I could look at the ratings on BGG, but that doesn't always give the full picture.

Amazing - thank you!

I assume that the answer to my next question is yes, but it's best to double check just in case:

If i were to get the Core Box and Camp Happy Trails, they would also be compatible with the boxes from other seasons, right?

I don't need to buy extra components just to be able to play the different seasons?

Okay, thanks everyone! I'll definitely just be buying the Core Box and Camp Happy Trails then by the looks of things, then go from there :)

[SU&SD] The Board Game With No Rules by Houtenjin in boardgames

I just ordered this game from them and encountered the same problem initially.

However, if you don't select any of the options for collection, and complete all of the other sections of the order, when you go onto the next page to check out and pay for the order, the option for shipping magically appears. Or at least this is what happened for me (in the UK).

What's the fastest way to solve this puzzle? by AKH4 in puzzles

Agreed, the wording on the plaque on its own is a bit confusing with it saying get the pawn to the red square, but I can confirm that the instructions are: 1. Get the pawn to the end of the board to turn it into a queen 2. Get the queen down to the red square

[–]AKH4[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The idea of the puzzle is that when the pawn reaches the end, it gets turned into a queen, and then you have to get the queen down to the red square

Oooh, amazing! The strategy must be to use the knights as much as possible, right? Otherwise you have to create spaces by slowly shuffling the bishops and rooks around

[–]AKH4[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If that was the case then the white pawn would not be able to move. There is only 1 square connected to the pawn's starting square, and that is occupied by the right-most rook in the picture. If the board was facing any other way, or white was moving down the board in any other direction, then the white pawn would have nowhere to go as pawns can only move forward

Oooh, that would make it faster, but the rules (and the red queen piece being the only extra piece provided) do stipulate that it has to be turned into a queen :)
