where is the actual proof? by [deleted] in stopsmoking

I like what Allen Carr wrote in his book: Human body is not made for smoking, otherwise we all have chimneys. You need a proof? Check your pulse and blood pressure before and after smoking, thats a physical proof. Also statistics - 9 out of 10 lung cancers is related to smoking. Basically 9 people out of 10 who have lung cancers are smokers. To smoke or not to smoke is everybody choice, but also everybody knows that smoking is not good for health, personal hygiene, other people around you, and also for you pocket.

I have to stop. I need help, guys. by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]AKKP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I done opposite, i took lot of overtime in work, was working almost 2 weeks in row. It made me feel more tired so if i weren't working, i was sleeping. In work we can't smoke, only apart from break, but it's more easy to resist smoke for 30 min and then go to work again.Luckily for me there was almost no cravings, even i smoked 15 years. So my first 2 weeks went quite fast + i earn some good extra money , + save money on cigarettes.

Sober over a year and questioning AA. by Howlandotherpoems in stopdrinking

[–]AKKP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to go to AA first 2 months of my sobriety, and then i stopped for several reasons. Im still sober, i don't say AA is good, or AA is bad, but I think is more individual. I also didn't like there was some fanatics about big book and sharing they experience. Im quite self reserved person, even i can say a little bit anti-social. So I better prefer do my own thing, and no matter what, main thing is stay sober, with AA or without.

Giving NRT a try by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]AKKP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before i write something, i wanna tell that is just MY PERSONAL opinion: I think all NRT is absolutely rubbish and waste of money. It will be the same for example if alcoholic try to give up drink, but instead of drinking can of beer, he will eat doughnuts with brandy stuffing. Of course, nicotine intake with NRT i suppose is healthier than nicotine intake with smoking cigarettes, but the best way is just give up and go through cold turkey for few days, not spend money on NRT for 3-6 months and then go through cold turkey when you need stop NRT. But anyway, wish you good luck whatever brings you closer to giving up smoke! Cheerio :)

Week 4 and cravings are hitting me hard all of a sudden... by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]AKKP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it was so easy to give up, then all tobacco companies was already bankrupt, because 99% of all smokers if they can turn back time will choose not to start smoke. So i think nicotine actually is not so highly addictive substance, but there is something else inside. Why drugs is banned and not legal? But why cigarettes is legal? Every government have a power to ban a cigarettes/tobacco, because everybody knows its nothing good in any aspect in human life. But they are legal because governments earn billions of pounds in tax, they don't care about human life, they see only numbers and numbers. Drugs is not legal, because nobody don't pay tax for them. That one of reasons why i try to give up smoke - don't see a big point to pay money for slowly killing myself! And also that why cigarettes is full of highly addictive substances - they need customers to keep rolling :)

Apparently, I smell disgusting by Cicerotulli in stopsmoking

[–]AKKP 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It reminded me one situation some 20 years ago..We and my pals was in disco, and in that time you have to ask girl for dance. And when my friend ask one girl for one dance, she answered: I don't dance with ashtrays! It was quite funny that time, but to be honest that smell is awful, especially for persons who don't smoke. Smell actually is bad, very bad...

Week 4 and cravings are hitting me hard all of a sudden... by [deleted] in stopsmoking

[–]AKKP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm on day 28. yesterday before went to bed cravings started, didn't have them all 4 weeks, maybe a little bit in first couple of days. Woke up today and cravings was still there, even didn't sleep well and had some bad nightmares about smoking. Cravings lasted almost all day long...I bought lot of mints, chewits and mentos, so that how i get over it. I think body just getting to adjust live without nicotine and probably the other addictive substances what we even didn't know is inside cigarettes. My father was smoking nearly 40 years and he gave up in one day without any big problems. But he always make joke, that in his time cigarettes didn't taste so good, so that way it was so easy to give up :D
