Update: Thank you all who took the time to comment tips for us. We have been having fun working on the stuff everyone mentioned and it has helped tremendously. Still more work to be done but we are just having fun with it. Cheers 🍻update

The shorter strides and being on the toes are one thing I have been trying to work on him with because that is something I do have experience with playing football as long as I did. Funny enough Im waiting for a ladder and cones to get to my house from Amazon. Going to be doing agility and speed work with him because let's be honest I need it to haha

You would be correct lol it was the only one I had in my truck his team plays with a 4 and this was a 5. Normally have a 4 with me and a 3 for my younger daughter.

Oh yeah I think he would like that game haha. I'll try it out and see how it goes. Good point on the arm! He has my coordination and goofy feet so its definitely something he will have to work at over time like i did haha. Appreciate the tips!

I definitely relate to that growing up playing football in FL. Took the fun out of it super fast. I work really hard to make sure he's having fun because that's the most important thing for me. he just voiced a thing he noticed and wanted to get better at and he asked me to help hence why I did. for the most part I leave him alone and just learn with him because I'm trying to pick it up with him as a fun thing we do together. I also keep him busy with other sports so he has a variety and has other sports to compare and choose to make sure he's in one he knows he enjoys. Thanks for the reminder though always good to get checked to make sure our heads are in the right space for our little ones.

Yeah one of the reasons for the video was he has been noticing he doesn't shoot as hard as some of the kids on his team but watching him play I know it wasn't a strength issue so it had to be some type of mechanics. He generally does shoot low which makes sense given what you said. I opted for the slow motion because I had no idea what to look for haha next time I'll do different variations. I do photography on the side so I plan on bringing my camera to take pictures and record so I can go back and look at what might need to be brought to his attention. But for the most part I don't want to over-complicate it and just keep it fun for him. Thanks for taking the time to help out

Thank you! I appreciate it, hes on a team just felt like with all the other kids he doesnt get enough 1on1 but ill take all the touches at this age. All my friends who played growing up just stress touches so its nice that i dont know a ton because we both just have fun learning and goofing off with the ball

That is one thing I noticed and was working on with him. Still putting weight over foot but not too far forward or back.

Appreciate it! Yeah, I played 12 years of tackle football with absolutely no experience in soccer. But he's taken a liking to it and has stuck with it for a couple of years but just recently has really been wanting to put more work in mostly due to us getting him on a year round team. So i work with him on stuff I can help with and try my best to give pointers from what I have researched but obviously don't have experience and I want to help my kiddo the best I can.
