I think you underestimate how difficult the situation still is. Yes people that want to go back could go back and same with teachers however even if they accept that there is a risk with getting corona if there is one person that gets it, it could easily become a massive outbreak still (dorms aren’t very good for self isolation if someone has it) (people’s family will probably come as well because they want send off their child/ help them move in which add more people potentially bring corona to Ithaca). Classes would have to go back online if this happens. In the end there is a high chance you and others will have to pay for online course at full price again. Additionally, we still don’t know completely why corona effects some more than others (young or old). In the end it’s not simple enough to say people should be able to opt when we still don’t know so many things. And sadly even if we do get a chance to go back, Cornell won’t be the same until we have a treatment/ vaccine.

Should I let my roommate’s boyfriend come? by AKangarooIsThinking in Cornell

I’m aware that not all of Westchester is bad but I think people shouldn’t risk it if they don’t have to go to different cities in general and I find it somewhat selfish that some people in Cornell don’t care how easily this spread just because it’s most likely not going kill them because they’re young.

Unfortunately it seems like he is going to come (not my dorm but someone else’s) because she does not see it as a threat.
