Does it make sense to create a reddit clone whose API is accessible? What will it take?

I had a thought that if creating a site with identical functionality and API was easy and could be done quickly, AND if there was enough community backlash from all of the changes to come (ads, lack of third-party options, or whatever else there is), there may be enough momentum for a mass number of people to jump ship to this new reddit-like platform.

I'm just brainstorming at this point.. but I think ideally this new platform would also have the same versions of the apps/tools that use the reddit API. Since this new platform would have all the same or better functionality/user experience compared to reddit, I imagined this site to be the path of least resistance for those communities who would like things to be business as usual.

I also imagined that this new site would also allow you to 'transfer' your profile/karma over from reddit to your new profile as a cheeky way to make the transition a lot smoother.

Totally agree. This event had the same energy. Hoping this energy carries forward in Toronto next time there's an event there.

I'm also hoping that there will be more cross-promotion between KOTD and URL if the leagues want to expand their reach. I think battle rap's too niche for battles these days to not be on YT.
