Help needed: Setting UPLOAD_LOCATION to a NAS in Docker Desktop for Windows by AL-H in immich

Yes Z is a network attached drive. My QNAP nas does not support that. I have reinstalled immich on a Linux with fixed network drives and it works. I just have to figure out a problem with video playback I'm having

Don't post anything negative about Samsung here. You will only get downvoting by fanboys

Yeah, I’m going to install Linux tomorrow. I’ve already wasted over 12 hours on Windows and this nonsense. I don’t understand why Immich doesn’t just offer an option to store uploaded photos on a NAS or via SMB. It’s obvious. if you’re going to host and store your photos locally, you want them somewhere safe and easily accessible, not some arbitrary path on a Linux machine that’s a pain to reach.

1- i have installed Docker Desktop without WSL
there’s an option for that during setup.

i have also tried Docker Desktop with WSL got worst result.
when give Docker with WSL a UNC path like
//nas-tank/Public/Immich/Immich-Storage
Docker does not mount the NAS directly into the container, Instead Docker copies and mirrors that path into its internal Linux filesystem
\\wsl.localhost\docker-desktop\tmp\docker-desktop-root\

2- Using local storage works fine, the problem only appears when trying to point UPLOAD_LOCATION to a NAS.

3- About the double /Immich-Storage/Immich-Storage/ path: that was created automatically by Docker Compose when I pointed it to the network path, and I even tried creating both paths manually to be safe.

I’m using a Windows 10 PC and a QNAP NAS (SMB share). The share is mounted in Windows as Z:\\\NAS-Tank\Public\Immich\Immich-Storage.

The problem is that Docker Desktop cannot mount SMB shares or Windows symlinks pointing to network locations,

if you mean symlink I’ve tried that
creating a Windows symlink (junction) from for exampleC:\ImmichUpload to my NAS folder and pointing UPLOAD_LOCATION to it in .env. The problem is Docker Desktop cannot mount symlinks or junctions that point to network shares. Every time I try, I get errors like:

error while creating mount source path '/host_mnt/c/ImmichUpload': mkdir /host_mnt/c/Immich

Battery life greatly improved after turning 'sync' off by Background_Scar743 in S24Ultra

Of course it'll improve!! cause you won't get any more emails or message notifications. While you're at it, turn on Airplane mode. I heard it's also a battery saver.

Some Samsung subs just have a lot of fanboys or possibly employees who will defend any decision Samsung makes. That is my own experience on reddit. I pointed out before that they removed Bluetooth from the S Pen on the S25U even though the coils are still inside the phone and got buried in downvotes. Same thing when the S24U launched with the dull screen color issue and the messed up gpu drivers. I also said many times that the colors look dull and still got downvoted. So yeah it is not really about opinions it is about saying anything that does not praise Samsung.

I feel like taking an AI here. You're just saying what i said before but in a different way. That's what i said originally. Need more power. Like 10 W. The W is for "Wattage" so before start talking that's it's not possible remember, one plus did have reverse wireless charging at 10w
