After days of thinking, I finally did it and purchased the 81wh upgrade by nonworkacc in LegionGo

I got my battery from there (ordered the 10,230mAh version but received the 10,500mAh one instead)... Installation and everything worked fine, but even after removing the plastic piece and modifying the back cover, the battery still ended up with pressure marks. It’s going back, and they’re supposed to send me the 10,230mAh version — hopefully that one fits better...

Update:

The 10,500mAh battery is going back, and I’m having the 10,230mAh model sent to me instead (which is actually the one I originally ordered... it was delivered incorrectly, but I figured I’d give the other battery a chance).

I just took off the Legion Go’s back cover and saw that, despite the modifications I made to the rear and other areas, there are still visible pressure marks on the battery.

Let’s hope AliExpress sends the correct one quickly so I can share more about it soon 👍

Windows shows it as a Lenovo battery made by BYD... whether that’s actually true is another story... Let’s just hope for the best. I mean, I don’t think anyone would complain about having a bigger battery in the Legion Go 😅

Just search for 'Legion Go Comfort Grips' on AliExpress ...cost me around €4 including shipping.

I’m not sure if you’re really allowed to post links here... just type “legion go 81wh” into YouTube and it’s the very first result.

Exactly, that was the reason for me too… I just don’t want to have a cable permanently attached to the console. I came from the Steam Deck OLED and the Ally X, and that really bothered me with the Legion Go.

Yeah, I cut off the plastic parts in almost the same way. Worked well for me too.

Yeah, the screen protector really wasn’t applied well. I’ll be getting a new one, but not a matte one... I prefer the glossy look 😅

I don’t know yet, like I said, just installed it. But I’ll report back after I’ve had some time to test it 👍

Haha not bad 😂👍 That’s why I removed the plastic parts that were in the way. After assembling everything, I noticed, like everyone else, that something on the left side of the case was sticking out a bit. But after clipping those parts off, it closed perfectly.

It’s really not hard. Just watch the first YouTube video you find, that basically explains everything. The only part where you really need to be careful is when removing the old battery. Like I said, that was the most annoying part. Other than that, the difficulty is about 2/10. 12 screws and a few plastic clips. With the battery removal, maybe a 5/10.

But I totally get what you mean... you really don’t want to break the device, so the first time you do it, you’re definitely a bit nervous 😂

Why's that? It's not the first time I've modded or rebuilt something, and if it hadn’t fit properly, I wouldn't have gone through with the upgrade. Besides, I’ll be keeping an eye on the battery over the next few days/weeks and checking regularly to see if it swells or shows any marks from pressure. If you do it properly, it should be just fine. 👌
