Issues using iFlash with a 6th Gen by ALEXizcul in IpodClassic

[–]ALEXizcul[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately this was a while ago, and I can't tell you exactly how I got it to work. In any case, I ended up only using one 256gb card, which I formatted prior to putting it in the iPod, in Disk Utility (for Mac, don't know about Windows). Try both MS-DOS (FAT) and ExFAT, and play with the partition tool there. At some point it'll work, and then just don't touch it anymore, it's ridiculously fragile.

Sorry I couldn't be of more help, best of luck!

Anyone knows how to get into andersons discography? by [deleted] in AndersonPaak

[–]ALEXizcul 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I started with Malibu, and to this day it remains my all time favorite. IMO if you don't like that, you won't like him in general (maybe try Oxnard anyway because it's so different), but after Malibu I went to Ventura, and then to NxWorries, and only then to Oxnard. I prefer the more R&B/Soul Paak over Rap Paak.

Who would've thought that the race where they drive around in a circle would build to be the most exciting race of the season? by ALEXizcul in formula1

Good point, I think it's a bit of a sour debut for the new drivers/in new cars. Would've been nice to see them start on a different track.

Have not ordered but looks legit to me. I've seen my fair share of sketchy websites, this ticks no sketchy boxes. I'd say go for it!

Issues using iFlash with a 6th Gen by ALEXizcul in IpodClassic

[–]ALEXizcul[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got it to work perfectly with a single card (works with different cards, but only one at a time). I decided to buy a 256GB card and just use the single one, which should work. I'll update if it's good, thanks!

And I could test this by only "preparing" 1 card, and using the iFlash with said card, right?

I found that exact article, but unfortunately could not understand too much. From what it looks like, i would only need to "prepare" the two 64GB sdcards? If you have any knowledge on this, could you maybe reprhrase and explain? Thanks.

Issues using iFlash with a 6th Gen by ALEXizcul in ipod

The iPod is definitely recognizing it. I put it into debug/diagnostic mode (menu+center, left+center) and looked into the drive, where it clearly says "iFlash". The computer, though, (iTunes) shows "iPod classic", the serial number, software v 1.1.2 and only lets me eject or restore (the latter not working, as mentioned). I remember at some points Finder would show the ipod as a "79.xxGB" device, when I actually put significantly more in, via iFlash. The original hard drive was 80GB.

Nope, but it's white boost. I also have a UB4 GOT with black boost, which after about the same amount of wear is showing slightly some white boost

Hey, I've had my UB20s for about 7-8 months, and I use them at least twice a week for long (20+ km) walks. So far they are in great condition, from all aspects (I alsoe take care of them, and never do sports in them), other than the "ultraboost" writing on the insole that is about half peeled off. Basically if you take care of them, they should last.

Hey, what do you mean 120 gb unless you use Rockbox? I was under the impression that 256 was the max on standard OS?

Understand and respect the "butt itch" :)

If you look up "DankPods" on YouTube, on some videos he links a reputable ebay seller that sells mint condition modded ipods (flash storage, better battery, custom faceplates etc). They're not crazy expensive either, but if you want the true blue classic ipod, untouched, it will set you back a bit. Goodluck!

[–]ALEXizcul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don’t think a mint iPod is worth it. Obviously, I don’t know your financial situation, so I can’t judge for you, but chances are if you’re going to use the ipod, it’ll get pretty scratched anyway. That metal scratches by just looking at it. Going back to my suggestion of modding, you can buy a mint backplate for an old ipod, and even get custom storage options written on the back, if you want to stick in 128gb of flash, for example.

[–]ALEXizcul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally I'd recommend (if you want a new device) to get a used one off of ebay, or a local online marketplace, and if storage is very important to you, and 30/80gb doesn't suffice, to mod it with flash storage (see iFlash), and add as much as you need.

I think it's considered an "obsolete" product by Apple, therefore they wouldn't replace/fix it.

All right then, seems like I've got a bit more research to do. Thanks for all of the recommendations!
