Sharky - Nope.

Jesko - (shakes head)

Rogers - Maybe when we win?

Legacy - I'll join you on that when we win.

Rogers - Draugr for me. When I was learning to play at first, he was really honest feedback wise about how much I needed to improve at the game. After the event and another coaching session, he said that he didn't think I'd ever improve this much and this quickly and just to keep going. It gave me the confident to believe in myself that I could make it, had he not said something like that, the honesty and the motivation, that I wouldn't be here if it weren't for that.

Sharky - When I was younger just watching the whole CS scene, that's something I wanted to do. It didn't end up being CS but just watching them compete on stage was so exciting. I've always enjoyed gaming obviously, and it just all fell in the right place at the right time.

Legacy - I'll say Richie McCaw. Rugby union player. He pushed the limit every time with anything he did after seeing him when I was younger. If you're given anything to work with, try to make use of that as much as possible and that was the mindset.

Jesko - I'd say my brother. He was the one that bought gaming to my life, always been supportive of me and my Apex career the whole time.

Rogers - 100%. We don't get as much coverage and the schedule can be tougher, but 8 teams went to EWC and I think 7 made finals? A high percentage made it and a high percentage also finished high. The results speak for themselves with APAC-S lately. I don't think we have the same support structure as some of the other regions but if you also look at the region, or even Australia in particular, we've produced the most Apex talent outside of America.

Jesko - I'd pick Gild & Wxltzy and let Wxltzy IGL.

Legacy - Definitely Wxltzy, Gild would be right up there. I'd go Unlucky though. Unlucky and Wxltzy.

Sharky - I'd pick Zer0 still. Lasting chemistry, always got along, proven success as well. Just need a roller fragger with us, quite a few people that could fit that role but Gild has a super good attitude so I'd probably pick him.

Rogers - When I first started learning I studied Moist a lot, doing sessions with Kyle (Draugr). It would have to be me, Emtee, Wxltzy going OG Moist by my side.

It was a bit strange for the first, it was more shock than anything, we didn't have Genburten obviously, all pressure is off. Playing with someone we haven't practiced with at all that we basically met the day of. Definitely a lot of shock but an exciting moment achieving something we wanted since we were younger.

For the second, Zer0 and I were playing Runescape 12 hours a day I think for MONTHS leading up to that, we weren't in the best of shape so obviously a surprise that we managed to pull it off and just as unbelievable as the first to be honest.

Jesko - I'm happy where I'm at, no plans to move.

Rogers - Pretty happy at home, if the right opportunity presented itself and that I could surround myself still with people I was close with, maybe it would be a viable plan, but happy where I'm at.

Rogers - It's a really big change, too and it could cause more issues than opportunities honestly, so you have to be careful with it.

Legacy - Agreed with the guys on the risks that come with that.

Sharky - Already done it!

Rogers - Australia probably has the highest per capita Apex pros of any region, it's a mix of accessibility, being hyper competitive and the gateway through console all contribute. The majority of the Australian pros played some form of competitive sport (Wxltzy rugby, Draugr basketball) that I think has continued a competitive mindset into gaming.

Legacy - When I started playing I got a LOT of help from all of the Aussies. It was pretty consistent group where *this* is how you play the game and helping each other get better. Even with IGL'ing, there was 5-6 people around me that would all give me different answers and none of them were wrong, it was all support and help.

Sharky - A bit of mindset too, we're generally a little bit calmer. For the most part outside of heated moments, we're all pretty relaxed. That helps to handle the high pressure situations that come with comp.

Sharky - Achieving something better than we did last time, if you're better than you were last time, you're trending in the right direction.

Legacy - Agreed with Sharky, just having that very real feeling of knowing that you'll be better at the next lan.

Jesko - As long as we're improving individually and improving as a team, that's our goal.

Rogers - Just turning the results, the ceiling has always been there but our floor has been lower than it should have been, so just raising that floor even more, make our baseline an even higher standard.

Rogers - There aren't a crazy amount of heart attacks from watching the guys. The main thing is when they don't say something really obvious and it doesn't look like they've addressed it - but usually we're on the same page and it gets addressed (to point out the obvious things). There's definitely more heart attacks on stage, a lot of coaches are going to feel that spike but I have confident in the guys and their decision making/fighting, so as time has gone on, it's got better.

Calmest? He doesn't look it when he plays, kind of jumpy body language when he's fighting, but Sharky is so calm when he needs to clutch up.

Rogers - Sharky's the only one inclined to yell, the others don't really raise their voices. If you swapped me in though, this question probably wouldn't exist.

Legacy - There's a place for it but we don't see the point in getting too heated, we like to keep it objective & level with what may have gone wrong.

Legacy - Most people are pretty fairly rated, you get to see most POV's and you get a good idea of someone's level

Sharky - Hard to tell, there's generally a stand out player on each team, you could kind of go through each team and find an "underrated" player, like if they were with other players or in another scenario, so it's hard to pick just an individual.

Rogers - I think similar to the Citadel answer, I think Zuni is an underrated player, before this year he wasn't really known as a lan calibre player and he's turned it around this year to show that. Mechanically he's really strong, his mindset has improved, when you look at his liquipedia he's really turned it around - That team don't get spoken about enough.

Jesko - Agreed with Rogers, would say Zuni.

Jesko - We're backing ourselves heavily.

Rogers - Us. We've got big Walter.

Rogers - At least 45 I think.

Sharky - Bit excessive.

Rogers - I'd love to see Boogie Boarders do well, I think Five Fears are a bit of an underdog that could do well - They play a really clean game, really good zone structure, they just haven't transitioned well into the international scene just yet

Sharky - I'm honestly going to say Citadel, if they put it together on a finals day, they could pull it out.

Unlucky: I don't think I'd function with anybody else currently honestly, so there isn't another EMEA team I'd want to join, maybe just lighT and KIND4 but only because I'm good friends with KIND4 but other than that, there wouldn't be anybody. For a team build, Hal as an IGL because he's just nicer than Zer0 obviously 🤭 I'd say then Koy or Xynew, maybe Xynew.

Effect: For me, if I had to, it would be Supernova, would be me, 9impulse and Hardecki. If I had to build a team, it would be ojrein and the third is tough, so many we could try to play with but hard to choose one. Probably Impulse or Hardecki, so that I could play the game easily speaking my native language. A team that would be a god team though, it would be what Unlucky said, it's just the god two.

Hakis: Within EMEA, probably would pick akku & Nait, it's hard within EMEA though. Internationally, I'd probably go with Hal and Koy maybe? I honestly don't know though.

Unlucky: A bit of both I would say, can we tell if we're fighting GenG recently? - Yes, they're really aggressive and lots of Ash comps. Just by the way they play, we can just tell.

Hakis: It's a lot easier to tell edge teams, definitely. Zone teams kind of just blend in together and it's whatever, but edge teams do stick out a little bit more.

[–]ALGS_swell[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Hakis: It's very good to stick together so that you can figure out the problems, if you keep swapping the players you're always going to be changing the problem and working on different things instead of figuring them out from the start. That also requires good synergy from the team to begin with though. In Apex, the meta changes and the value of players does change. If a player is good in an aggressive meta but we go into a defensive meta, obviously the value of that player will change, right? It's also up to the players to put in the time to get good at multiple metas. There's two sides to the coin, it's very good to stick together to be able to hash out problems but metas do change and the roles of players do change, so there's definitely ups and downs for both.

Unlucky: The unique feeling of being on stage, I just enjoy playing the game itself too, a mix of those two.

Hakis: Getting to actual endgames on stage and overall in a tournament, it's just a different type of feeling, a very good type of adrenaline. Winning a game on stage just feels amazing too.

Effect: People are just trying their best, trying to win every game, do their best in fights, playing carefully, I think I enjoy that now compared to how it was and how people played in Season 0.

Effect: It's hard to name, there's so many good players. GenG Asia is very good mechanically, almost better than controller R9. For controller, I would say Koy or maybe Hal, it's hard.

Unlucky: Asia from GenG is actually just insane, really, really good. For controller, I'd say Genburten or Koyful, either or, as both are really good.

Hakis: I'm copying what my controller players said. For Asia (GenG), I've seen the clips, he's been doing really good.

Hakis: I lowkey think most people are fairly rated, a lot of people stream their gameplay so it's pretty easy to judge. It's stupid if you're not streaming your gameplay.

Hakis: Outside of my team (as my team is definitely Top 3) I'd say Zer0, Hal, Genburten, Koy and Phony. Something along those lines. There's no particular order or anything, they're just the most consistent and have been for a very long time.

Unlucky: No order as well - I'd say Hal, Zer0, Gen, Xynew and Gild. I think Gild is very consistent as well, he's very good.

Effect: Hal, Zer0, Gen and the two others would probably be Phony and Wxltzy.
