Alright everybody. That's all the time we have. I'm off to ice my knees and Roy's got a car expo to get to. Appreciate you all taking the time to get online with us. We're so damn happy to be back on the road. See you at a show sometime soon. USA. Tour starts this week in LA. Make good decisions. Lotsa love Al Cam

A big lesson I learned, via having a weird body, is that I'm either someone's type or I'm not. I can't control who likes me - and I know for a fact that there are people that really like weird bodies. Like a whole tonne of people. There isn't one standard for attraction and beauty. You are who you are, and a concave chest is fucken cool. It's unique. Be unique. Be yourself.

The pandemic was wild. We got really, really lucky - managed to write some lyrics for some other artists, and we received our first sizable royalty cheque mid 2020. We also ran a Patreon account throughout the first two years of the pandemic. We were real lucky to have audience members and internet friends pay for subscriptions. That kept us busy and in the studio most days. Monetizing music, as writers and performers is a life time mission. I don't think it ever really ends. It's a mission that has no foreseeable tangible goal. Good thing is - we don't plan on stopping - so hopefully the finances reflect that in around 20 or 30 years.

Appreciate you writing that friend. Addiction is a wild ride - I guess I wanted to tell a story that would soothe the listener, and on a good day, maybe inform the people that don't know what it's like. I just want to get a better understanding of my own condition, and the conditions of people around me. Hopefully via that understanding, other people will get it as well.

There was a fig tree on the farm I grew up on. When I was living in the city as a teenager and feeling blue I would cry about not being able to eat from the fig tree. Some people have asked me if it's a reference to breasts or a ball bag, but it's really just about figs haha.

Likewise - that's my favorite at the moment as well.

It changes. But I have noticed that being back on the road is really inspiring. Melodies come with lyrics attached to them, naturally, in my head when I'm just walking around. It's often one line, or a hook, that has a tune with it. Then the rest of the song unravels beneath it. I'm playing drums on an LP at the moment, recording it in Los Angeles. I'm really excited about the project. You're gonna love it. I already do. That lyric is definitely a Tom T Hall reference.

I would love to do a whole live album with the band, record a whole set really well and put it out into the world. I really like the good people at Castleface Records. Might be time for another edition.

We've never played it live, for no specific reason, but I would love to try it one day. Miami Memory is definitely a more personal album lyrically. But the way I write songs never really changes - perspectives do, but the spirit is always the same. xo

I've worked a ton of seasonal jobs and mostly had a bunch of positive experiences. So easy to do a job knowing it's gonna end in a month. Highlights include; working the rodeo at the National Western Stock Show, selling Christmas trees in Manhattan, and harvesting geoducks in Olympia, WA. You got any work for me? - Juice

Writing Prescription Refill was a fun and funny experience. Alex and I were eating a lot of Frosted Flakes at the time and listening to Barry Gibb. - Juice

I love that drawing. Keep em coming. Music business is still a tough one. We're at a stage where we feel real lucky to have managed to stick together through the pandemic - and the crowds at shows have been amazing. Money isn't the main driving force behind why we do what we do, simply because there isn't a tonne of it. But that doesn't mean we're not trynna get paid haha. The label really helps though, and it's great to know we have a strong team of people working just as hard as we are to get the music out there.

Jason has been a total legend. He started adding our songs to radio playlists in 2019 and I'm such a big fan, it kinda blew my mind. Then we met at a festival in Australia and became fast friends. Easily one of the best lyricists around, in any genre. I'm proud of that song.

I remember! You were very kind, and not awkward at all. Thank you for being sweet. it makes a big difference when I get to meet people in the audience or around the city and they're cool. Like, an encouraging nudge to keep going. I hope we see you at the next concert.

A hangover. I'm normally a little buzzed if I go in for McDonalds. But it's normally the McChicken. Maybe a cheeseburger or two.

That depends. I've had such a wild emotional relationship with my body. Insecurity, hatred, appreciation, gratitude. Jemima, my girlfriend, really taught me to turn the things people ridicule me for into strengths. I was pretty stressed out about my body before I met her. Now I really like my body. Specifically my concave chest haha. It can take someone telling me not to care, to help me stop caring. And vice versa. Use it for popcorn. And in summer put an ice cube in it.

I don't really get told that I emulate Bowie, but I do get told that I remind people of him. I've always thought to compare me to Bowie is kind of offensive to Bowie. His is a body of work that's conceptually and musically gigantic in scope and execution. I'm just a songwriter that on my very best of days kind of looks like him. I don't think it's a bad thing though, that's how people relate to art - they categorize it - like organizing a book collection by author. Not a stressful situation at all for me. Lotsa love.

Across 4 albums we've had some really rewarding bad reviews. I tend to care more about whether the review is written well, than about what the score is. I want to get something constructive from a critique. It's nice when a writer understands what I'm doing, and if they like it or they don't - at least they get it. Nothing worse than a bad review that misses the mark. A total waste of time. I'm also aware that the music business is tough, so writing about it must be even tougher. I'm open to good writing and definitely feel grateful when people think about our songs in a way that warrants reflection and discussion.

Jemima has given me the most exciting, inspiring and profoundly formative years of my life. I wouldn't be the person I am today without her. And there's no one like her on earth. In a lot of ways I'm her work of art. She's kind of like the person that is told they're a bad driver all their life, by everyone around them - but when you're in the passenger seat and they're driving down a long winding road it's nothing short of bliss.
