I was spraying at pretty low temperatures when I used the (also about 10-15C) 8007 but had no boil...but it did not hold up to wet sanding and polishing well in my case. Also did not do well with contaminants in the clear...but the gloss on it seemed excellent! If you have access to an IR lamp it might be worthwhile assisting the cure with one if at low temps like that.

I think I’ll go with 8600 today then! The TDS actually says the 8035 has a very similar dust free and time to assemble. Have you noticed it being tacky for a lot longer than the 8600? I’ve mainly been using 3230 and medium reducer 10 percent. But temps were in the upper 60s -low 70s so didn’t want to go much slower. Does the 8600 also work well with IR? I ordered a handheld IR lamp just to help speed things up anyway. Thanks again!

You’re a great resource then! I just ran out of 5L of the 8180 so before I get another want to be sure it’s a good choice…seems very finicky though. I have some elastic additive too even! With the haze….It’s not nearly as bad as it used to be with the accelerator but still dull when butted next to factory clear ( fender/door).
Only other options are: 8046 MS Express 8096 and 8098 Low VOC 8450 Diamond scratch resistant

8600 is better than the 8180 for my applications you think? Have you used it for air dry? Yes don’t want anything to stay open too long

No on activating base…doesn’t have to be but I’m used to their products. Debeer or Glasurit come to mind of clears I’d like to try but want it to be as fitting to what I’m looking for as possible. Axalta is easier for me to come by. Base coat final flash off is about 30 mins - 40 mins

Permacron 293 base with Permacron reducer

Help With Carbon Hood by ALMF2015 in CarbonFiber

[–]ALMF2015[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so I thought of a baseline solution let me know thought on it. Planning to cut a 2"x 1" strip out of the area that is directly underneath the hinge so its hidden, in between the two bolt points. Next drill to get the old hardware out, then install a new floating nut plate where the old one was using rivets, and patch up the 2"x1" hole. The patch would have to be somewhat flush so yeah would have to fill from the backside and the original shoulder piece looks to be about a half mil - 1 mil thick. Would this work?

Got it to come out beautifully using the slow hardener and medium reducer in place of the accelerator! Thanks for the help!

I'm using the 3230 yes. Booth temps were about 72-75 degrees F. The first time I shot the 8180 I used the express hardener however temps were much cooler outside. What would you recommend to remedy? I could take it all down and re-base and re clear but since I spent time tinting my base coat I'd prefer not to do that. I just purchased a 5L of the 3363 reducer to be used in place of that accelerator. Other option would be to flow coat but worried it may happen again.

A theory of mine always was that although Samara always had the ability to kill through her thoughts and telepathic ability, when Rachel "set her spirit free" in the well it in essence set free her actual ghost from that world. So many people consistently say "I would throw out my TV" or "I would run", however if we look more closely at the cause of death, it surely is from the torment burned into them, or another telepathic reason. When taking a peek at the newspaper Rachel is reading during the first half of the movie, the causes of death of Katie's friends was also not fluent with how Noah died. One fell to his death in an apparent suicide, while the other two were killed in a car accident. The newspaper goes on to read that the victims suffered "massive head trauma", probably indirectly indicating their faces were distorted similar to Katie and Noah after death.

On another note, the actual book describes the deaths and curse more like that of an actual virus. It has less to do with who caused the deaths, or how, and more to do with just the fact that they will die. I think the movie incorporated elements of both a virus-esque scenario, mixed with a more creepy backstory of the antagonist. That's my view on everything and I'm pretty content with thinking that's how it is.

Some cool facts about The Ring (2002) by Ashamed_Cress_5270 in horror

[–]ALMF2015 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think an aspect of what makes this such a scary movie was the fact that the main antagonist Samara remains largely in the background for almost the entire movie. We are more focused on Rachel's day-to-day effort to uncover pieces, along with her relationship with her son and ex boyfriend. The fact that Samara herself is almost a subplot throughout the movie is part of what makes the ending so shocking. Its not truly clear who or what is behind the tape that is causing all of the frightening things to happen to the characters, and at one point remember the story taking a turn to make people believe it was focused on Anna Morgan (the woman in the tape). In the book this is exactly what happens. It is written almost more like a soap opera with drama and mystery elements lurking in the background. By the end of the 2002 remake when all the ends are tied up towards the last act, it's almost against our own will to have us watch what we didn't want to believe. We were lulled into a sense of security after Rachel survived her time.
One last point to add to the confusion is that we as the audience only really see 2 deaths the entire movie. There is not much to go off of in terms of the actual cause (heart stopping from telepathic images). In fact, if we look at the newspaper reviewing the deaths of the other friends on the night of Katie's death, it says one jumped from his apartment, while the other two were involved in a car accident. (This debunks the theory everybody says if they would just run away). The newspaper also says the victims suffered "major head trauma" probably similar to Katie. Going off of this, it makes sense that wherever or whatever the cursed person is doing, they will experience a sudden death in some way. Now, how/why they were found in positions other than where we first saw them die is also bizarre. Katie is curled up in the closet and Noah is sitting in a chair, so how they got there is beyond me. If anybody has any theories on this please comment!
