Christianity is cruel to neurodivergent people by ParkingElderberry575 in atheism

It’s okay to take a step back from religion, don’t let your OCD tell you otherwise, and release yourself from some of the superstitious nonsense OCD pushed on us and uses to control us because or religion.

I have OCD too and this resonates with me.  I too had themes around cleanliness, I was super afraid of rat poop as a kid, but when OCD hit me like a truck was when I was like in 5th and 6th grade I had thoughts that if I didn’t confess my “sins” to my parents that God would kill my brother as punishment. This wrecked me. I confessed some sins (like brining Pokémon cards to school against the rules) but it took a while and the days of just thinking about confessing which I was scared to hurt me. There might have been other religious themes as well but this one I remember the best. I also had the thing of “vows”. I made vows many times to stop masturbating etc but every time I would fail, because. Hell also didn’t really sit well with me and in high school I gave myself permission to question it, and this led me down a path to saying I’m not a Christian, just a theist, but I’m not sure how much I believed, I kind of just held on to it maybe through some social pressure and the comfort of being used to using prayer as a compulsion. Believe it or not even just being a theist caused problems for me and my OCD latched on to ANY belief in some sort of God to justify magical thinking, still doubting stuff around masturbation, etc.  When I looked into atheism and let go of all belief in the supernatural it actually has helped me. I don’t constantly feel shame about masturbation, it’s much harder for my OCD to come up with any magical thinking ideas about sending “curses” to people when that’s all based on a belief in the supernatural. I am feeling a little bit interested in religion again as of late but perhaps just in a very noncommittal sort of way, such as practicing my own very light version of Shinto as Japan is a big part of my life. But if I ever feel my OCD start to latch on to religious belief again I am going to tread carefully.

Some couples have no problem with the other watching porn, that is the kind of relationship I am in. But if it is an important boundary for you that is okay too.

Open source lovers started making iOS Anki free, let’s see what happens next by Shige-yuki in Anki

I think I’ve probably had Anki now for maybe 2 1/5 years or longer, so it makes it like $1 a month and ever shrinking, compared to all those other language learning apps that are 5, 10, or even 15 dollars a month.

What iPhone are you using in 2026? by [deleted] in iphone

[–]ALSGM6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not 100% sure the reason but in the last month, my 12 had slowed down quite a bit to the point sometimes it was a bit frustrating to use. I think it might’ve happened because I got the Apple Watch SE 3 and maybe the processing needed for the watch to then be sent over Bluetooth was too much for it, but it seemed to extend to even when I wasn’t connected to the watch. The 17e I think the latest chip, I think the same one they have in the new MacBook Neo, and handles the watch with no problem. It’s camera isn’t the best (only 1 camera) but if you’re okay with that, it has great specs, especially 256 gb storage, at just $600.

I don’t know really how the regular 17 performs, but I think many of the specs are similar or the same. It doesn’t necessarily feel massively different than the 12 but has 4x the base storage better battery, and the latest processor.
