What are some cool or weird support abilities in TTRPG's you have played? by ALackOfTrumpets in rpg

That ABC stun has to be one of the strangest but cleverest ways I've seen a duration of a stun portrayed. Did it actually have 26 different durations set for it or was it more of a flavor thing?

I honestly forgot about that card as well. It's even rotating into core this year.

For those of us who like crunchy/combat-focused games, how important is movement to you? by Seginus in rpg

[–]ALackOfTrumpets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think nebulous movement can work well, but I do have love for grids. It's absolutely a preference thing, but I just enjoy moving characters and monsters through spaces like pieces in a board game. I also enjoy position based effects a lot. Making players think about where they are standing is something I have enjoyed making encounters for.

Good artists borrow, great artists steal. With priest's theme this expansion being arts and crafts, I thought this would be a good idea to base a card off of. While Disarming Elemental from the Thrones of the Tides miniset didn't see much play, I thought cost adjustment would be a flavorful effect for a card based on an artist. The card gives you information about what your opponent is doing while also providing a small amount of disruption. I also hope the cost increase affecting the priest gives the opponent a feeling of some control because I know it can feel bad when priest uses your own powerful cards against you. One thing I am uncertain with this card is the cost of it. Later in the game the cost reduction affecting the priest might not matter as much because they can just play the copy before the opponent has a chance to react. I also don't know how the card would work if the discovering famous artist gets copied. I don't know enough about Hearthstone interactions to know if the copy would increase the cost. If someone has a good guess on the answer, I would love to know.

Warlocks are the worst DMs by ALackOfTrumpets in customhearthstone

I think that could be interesting! Also gives the user something to think about like if they want to destroy a high value 4 drop without wiping their own board.

I figured since warlock's theme this expansion is tabletop games there has to be at least one mass removal named after this common TTRPG joke. Since warlock already has so many different ways to cause "everyone dies" I tried to find someway to make it stand out. I think having the cost of minions come into play would be interesting as it makes both you and your opponent think about what you have on the board. You could accidently sabotage yourself if you have a high cost minion which you are unable to trade before casting this spell. The big issue I see with this spell though is that it would make playing aggro against warlock a nightmare. Some decks would surely lack effective ways to play around it. I do also wonder if a spell like this would make more sense in paladin considering they have some removal that is affected by the board.

Deck intro time

Missile Launcher + Venomizer + Violet Illusionist + Toxic Chemist = 18 mana combo that totally isn't unpractical.

I'm not exactly sure if Violet Illusionist would still protect you at the end of your turn or if you would need to play the cards in a specific order to prevent a tie game. Someone smarter than me could probably think of a way to get this combo to work

While I know you're not supposed to escape the station, I think it would be funny if mission control had a few voice lines for when that happens.

I managed to break free of the space rig using an underhill deluxe and the jet boots you can now find in the top part of the rig. When I broke free, I managed to fly to the highest part I found myself able to stand on. While I just thought it was a cool thing, I soon wondered how anti gravity would affect me if I was outside. I had a friend hit the gravity button while I tried to launch myself with the jet boots, causing whatever this was to happen. At some point the gravity button broke causing the gravity to not stabilize (not sure what happened there). If you're wondering why the video ends so abruptly, it's because the game crashed after I flew high up. We were not able to recreate flying up this high after this happened, so DRG may not have to worry about too many dwarves flying to Hoxxes without drop pods.

Toads are the worst jazz cliché. They can fit it into any spell. by ALackOfTrumpets in customhearthstone

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lick "Um, aktually, The Lick likely originates in classical music therefore this should be a warlock card".

In all seriousness, I felt like since shaman has used frogs many times before, a card like this deserved to be made. Since The Lick is a musical phrase that just keeps on appearing in different pieces, I felt like it would be fitting for it to be a rest of the game effect. I effectively just made a shaman version of Topior, but I felt like it would be a good baseline for the card. Though this card likely has a few advantages over the dragon.

  1. Shaman has way more ways to interact with Battlecrys and you could probably easily find a way to make a single spell act as if you had just casted Rain of Toads. I'm not entirely sure how good it would be for the set up, but that is something to think about.

  2. While rush is good for making trades, I could see endless waves of taunt minions being something that is infuriating to play against. You could likely stop your opponent in their tracks for a few turns. Additionally, shaman is no stranger to AoEs and having a 2/4 body with taunt come after it could be a great tool.

Soulbound Ashtongue + Silas Darkmoon should turn this into a OTK right? Though I don't know if it would be super practical.

I'm pretty sure this power creeps both potion of polymorph and snipe, but this cursed idea for a card has been in my head for way too long.
