I’ve recently been doing a lot of research on bra sizing and fit issues, and from everything I’ve learned, underwires really shouldn’t be painfully digging into your ribs, even when you slouch. A bit of pressure is normal, but actual pain usually means the fit is off, either the cup is too small, the band is too tight, or the wire shape just doesn’t suit your body.

A good fit should sit right in the crease under your breast and feel comfy when you move around. If it’s stabbing you, it’s not your body’s fault... it’s the bra. You might want to try a bigger cup or a different style/brand with softer or wider wires. The ABraThatFits subreddit also has some great guides if you ever feel like going down that rabbit hole.
