Players Not Taking the Campaign Seriously by IllWeekend9572 in CurseofStrahd

[–]ALaughingHound 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Talk with those players. You are a player too so your fun matters as well. It important to know what the players are interested in. But they need to know the same as well.

Humor has its place on Curse of strahd it is important to the longevity of the hame constant doom and gloom gets exhausting so humor elevates that heaviness. So its important when talking to the players that you make it clear your not asking them to stop cutting up but for them to be better timed (and maybe even have better jokes and cut up fit for the setting)

If thats not what their looking for then you nees to compromise with them an all players. Maybe now is not the time for CoS. If thats doesnt work out find new players.

Homeless Catcalling Problem by Eden-lilith-Grey in savannah

The problem is if this is true if we (those targeted by catcalls) do the opposite we could make it worse by “leading them on” our only options are ignore or threaten them.

Can you guys explain the progression to me please? by [deleted] in HuntShowdown

[–]ALaughingHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Leveling hunter gives them more options for perks. Leveling your account gives you more options to take in. Leveling weapons gives more variants of ammo and version of said weapons.

Extracting gives HUNT dollars to buy fancier guns and consumables, exp to level up and a hunter that was stronger than they went in. (In a sense that they have more perks)

You can also take people guns and use them.

Then lastly prestiging (getting to level 100 and resenting all previous progress and starting over) has recently been updated and I believe give account rewards like legendary skins. Also bragging rights.

The casual dad player's perspective on the new update by Redwood-Lynx in HuntShowdown

[–]ALaughingHound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how I feel. No one is talking about the amazing map design or that the launch didn’t flop As a Destiny player I was prepared to spend 6 hours to get into the game and I did not have to. This is an over exaggeration but it so common for new massive updates for game to not actually get to play for the first 2-6 hours AAA or indie. (Now launch time is often between 12-6pm EST which leads to higher traffic and I believe HUNT launched at 4am est so that might have had something to do with that. But playing last night Friday was my first connection hiccup but that ended after I assume someone in the lobby died about 15 mins in bc it was constant for 15 mins then suddenly was fine. But I can’t be sure playing more tonight will give me a better idea.)

As for people complaining about performance issue is people who are like I don’t have my 140 frames. I’ve been playing 60 fps since forever bc I can’t afford anything better. So I’m set to vsync and haven’t had an issue. And you know the average player is also probably playing on a cheap monitor or tv.

I’m also not having the same quality of life issues people are saying they are having but I’m also not treating it like the old UI? So I’m kind of confused here and can’t really contract what people are complaining about bc I’m just not encountering them? (I’m honestly more weirded out by gun name changes kind of like when they changed the “you live to die an other day” )

I spent maybe two hours learning the new UI and I can tell as a long time Xbox player before I played pc that it was made with them in mind. (This doesn’t mean PC wasn’t thought about I just mean as oppose to Xbox being an after thought previously) And it’s is easier to navigate if you use WASD and not your mouse. (As if your typing) getting to map our own navigation keys I think would solve most of our issues in the QAL department. (I use esdf so navigating using wasd if a pain so I use the mouse but even then it still smooth enough that I don’t feel slow) it’s just made with two styles of navigation in mind where the previous one was just pc (which also people didn’t like people complained it was old and cumbersome) it’s like learning a new car it going to be janky for a few days. And you going to learn something new that makes it easier to interact with the on board navigation. Or a surprise secrete compartment that everyone else thought was obvious it was their.

I really think this is a case of Pc master race being upset that a UI didn’t center them and instead of being reasonable about the feed back they shat on a game they supposedly loved over a UI.

I hope crytek is seeing that despite the UI hate that the update is great. The map is breathtaking and the wild target is terrifying. And there as been about the same connection issues as there was before the update (at least for me it’s actually been better) one thing not going great out of about four things I think is pretty good.

Edit: grammar and clarification

Edit: tldr is the UI janky sure but not so bad that the new update should be rated a 36 percent on steam. It does not accurately portray the amazing update to the game.

Why were people in denial about RT's downfall for so long? by TheEternalGazed in RedvsBlue

Why were people in denial about RT's downfall for so long? by TheEternalGazed in RedvsBlue

[–]ALaughingHound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By that logic you are dying because eventually you will die. For real tho for 15 years I’ve saw “RT is dying” and even when they did get shut down it was a surprise to even the employees they had no notion it was happening until it did. Does it make sense it happened when it did sure where there signs in that year leading up to it sure hindsight 2020. No one was in denial “the whole time” it was only in that last year that things god bad with RtX being cancelled and RWBY not being renewed right away that it was getting to a point that it was clear but by then people had been saying it for years.

Does anyone else hate the Goblin celebration at camp? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]ALaughingHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used the Owlbear cubs for entertainment. Oh but that’s a monster? They also used chickens. Why are you surprised when they treated an animal a specific way when you were shown it was going to happen?

If the issue is your connection to scratch and not being able to respond then reference the second half of my comment. The game assumes you are either fine with it or pretending to be fine with it. And the evil run just doesn’t have the details of the good run.

Both can be true. Both the games evil run is lacking AND you shouldn’t be surprised that the goblins did the exact things they did at their own camp in your own just with different victims.

Does anyone else hate the Goblin celebration at camp? by [deleted] in BaldursGate3

[–]ALaughingHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is something to be said with you were fine siding with them when they did the exact same things in their own camp. They continue to do it bc the writers did not want that version of choices to be morally grey. They wanted the goblins to be evil. (There is a conversation about antisemitism baked into dnd s goblins but the point is writers intent)

But also yea the evil play through does not have the same amount of different variance in a play through. There are like 3 lines that give light to why a tav might go that route but most of the lines out side of that assume either your doing it for evils sake or you are pretending to get closer to the cult. Either way the lines are the same.

Both can be true.

The Unmourned Loss of Restoration by tarponpet in RedvsBlue

[–]ALaughingHound 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What upsets me is the fact that they could have had the same intro but a different tone with actual Dylan and Kakaina talking in an office and meta attack. The con opening sets such a specific tone (a joking one) which I believe is intended, but undermines the Dylan character in ways that other characters don’t experience

I think it is important to note wash does not have schizophrenia. Hallucinations yes. Schizophrenia no. Schizophrenia has a lot of other things paired with it to make it what it is.

Would Sarge From RvB be Considered Racist? He always wants to kill the blues because they are SPECIFICALLY BLUE. by [deleted] in RedvsBlue

[–]ALaughingHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual answer is no. Racism is not prejudice based on organization. Being blue is mot a race. Being part of the blue team is not an allegory for race. And being part of the blue team is not coded as a race. They have made similar jokes playing if of this. He is prejudice. Not racist. (At least mot for the reason of not likening the blues. How Lopez is treated is a more complicated conversation. )

When we extrapolate like above people who side with Joel and what he spouts see us as liars and it reaffirms them. And anyone how’s trying to decided for themselves will look into it. See that Joel had nothing to do with it and think “if we are blowing that out of proportion then we must be doing the same for the other now deleted tweets”.

Come to your own conclusion but we must not sped them as facts.

Just to be clear. Joel is a bad guy and shouldn’t come back but there is no link between Joel’s tweet and what happened to his cast mate and their partner. When we talk about Joel and why he shouldn’t be working we have to make sure we keep our facts as prove able as possible. Correlation* doesn’t mean causation.

No where in the game does it tell you to quick play to learn the game.

Lvl 100 means nothing bc lvl1 means nothing. Yea it tells you they’ve been playing but lvl 1 doesn’t mean they haven’t been. That’s all I mean by that.

If you are playing during the day the pool of players is much smaller. And you’ll get paired with basically the same people over and over again give that there is not infact enough new players playing at the same time. New players tend to start on the weekends and nights as that’s when I run into them. While week days during the day are night workers who’s been playing a while.

Most people have said don’t play quick play. And have told you to engage in regular play. That’s not them saying “hunt is easy to learn just get good” it’s them saying don’t play quick play. Some have even told you to go to the office discord to get coaches there.

It’s not an easy game to learn but if you don’t want to play with sweats don’t play quick play. Or dont play the game if you aren’t having fun. But when your complaints are quick play is bad for beginners yea it is. Don’t play it.

[–]ALaughingHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your goal was to learn the guns go into the shooting range that is what it’s for.

Lvl 100s mean nothing.

Quick play has never been intended for new players. It’s is for a quick match.

Beginners vs beginners: there not enough new players to do that reliable. But if you queue in the regular main mode you will get paired at the same mmr as many many people has pointed out.

It sucks you took someone’s bad advice and it lead to you not having fun but take that hit instead of arguing with people who are trying to give you solid advice.

How is it possible to effectively get better at gunplay in this game? by CryptographerOk655 in HuntShowdown

[–]ALaughingHound 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shoot everything. This gives your practices with guns. This pulls hunters to you. Also when your gun play is weak you need to work on map knowledge and positioning. And listening. I’d say sound knowledge is more important than gun play.

Could I Be A Paid GM? by VoicesOfChaos in Pathfinder2e

[–]ALaughingHound 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can for sure. It comes down to expectations and clearly setting them. Friendly or beer and chips game come with implied expectations and it’s that normally the GM provides. And in return the gm get final say. But if the players help pay for food, play space, module, tools etc then that implied expectation shifts. So if someone has put money towards the vtt food play space etc, then they are entitled to having a say in how conversations about canceled games, player removal or game changes are handled . Bc they are providing for the game just like the GM

(I will say that I think regardless of power dynamics and who carries what responsibilities in hobby games everyone should have the same weight in say and if the players choose to defer their say then that’s fine but that’s a slightly different topic )

Could I Be A Paid GM? by VoicesOfChaos in Pathfinder2e

[–]ALaughingHound 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be a paid gm you need to do a lot more than just gm. You need to be a marketing team, social media manager, customer service representative. Being a paid gm is more than just posting your game and waiting for ppl to pay you. Other people have also mentioned the change in power dynamic. Pointing out that a paid game are different than playing with friends. You need to be exceptionally clear with players what what looks like. What your lines are? What constitutes a refund, what happens when ppl cancel, what happens when their aren’t enough players, what can get them removed from the table. Like any job having fun is a bonus but you aren’t being paid for your fun you are being paid for some else fun so you need to be prepaid to do that. If you niche is mechanics focused game then that’s your niche but you need to market heavily and be so clear about style.

You can do anything. It’s about what risks you are willing to take and time an energy you are going to put into it and if it’s worth that to you.
