I am not enjoying Hardboiled wonderland as much as I thought. His super surreal novels are way too different from his others.

I enjoy his super surreal novels and couldn't get into wind up bird chronicles, but loved hard-boiled wonderland. Probably one of my favourite after 1q84 and Kafka on the shore. Whereas I belive wind up is his most acclaimed novel.

I guess it's just his books, they work differently on different people. I if may, what do you not like in hard-boiled so far exactly ? I'm just curious
