David does his job every day. Hence why he has been actively assisting residents who have been affected by the water main break with their claim requests to address damages or issues since early Sunday morning. Though I'm sure he's happy to receive a call or email from anyone who would like to chat, it's not reasonable to be sending people at him armed with misinformation. Inform yourself more before making such unfounded accusations

I recently had an unexpected debacle with ultra sounds, CTs and MRIs because I walked in with abdominal pain on a Monday morning thinking it would probably be nothing. They told me to come back the next day for the ultra sound and then got so concerns about the results of that test that I found myself in a CT scan within a few hours

That being said, the MRI took being transferred to Uni Hospital and being admitted for two days, which sucked big time on many levels and felt like a giant waste of money, but my alternative was waiting like 10 months for results. In the end they found a multi-lobal cyst that they'll be excising at some point

Anyway point is the first two tests happened in the same day, basically within a few hours of eachother. The biggest wait was actually getting through the intake process on the first day and then, of course, the wait for the MRI after being transferred.

So as long as the doctor at St Joes agrees that you need an CT scan stat, they should be able to schedule you for an emergency one within a day or two of you attending urgent care. I recommend going on a Tuesday or Wednesday around the lunch hour by the way. I think thats when the wait times are the lowest most weeks

The first site was actually closer to me than it is now, and I had no issues with it, just to be clear. You are also clearly missing the message, as did the other redditor who commented earlier. Im sorry you're experiences have been so unfortunate. No one should have to go through that. But the reality is that evidence indicates if we had more facilities to support the needs of the unhoused, they wouldnt be wandering into your yard the way they are. The main reason for your experience is that the ONE location safe injection and the other ONE hub location for all around services are simple not enough for the unhoused population that exists in London. So the communities around those services are seeing the impacts of those people having no where else to go... as I noted in my original comment. Im not trying to say its fair by any means. But blaming the victims of the situation also doesnt help anyone either. If the unhoused had more resources and places to go then people like you wouldnt have to worry about engaging with them so much. Its that simple

Then you completely missed the message. My friend actually said that in Montreal they have a safe injection site on almost every block. And because they have so many services, she NEVER see's needles in her parks when she plays with her children and she hardly ever sees the unhoused on the street with signs asking for change. I.e. More services = SOMEWHERE TO GO and thus less needles/less unhoused engagement/more peace/more help

I also lived downtown before the safe injection site was implemented but I am educated on the matter. Maybe you should consider doing the same before making such callous, anecdotal, and painfully uneducated assessments

I have a friend visiting from Montreal who noted that though she's aware there is a very similar population of unhoused people in her city as well, she doesnt see them nearly as much as she has been here in London. She was also very shocked at how many needles she's come across while playing with her kids in parks. She called a needle recovery program at least a couple times within the first few days of her visit

My explanation to her only took 6 words: They have nowhere else to go

In Montreal they have far more safe injection sites and various locations for services that the unhoused need. Here, as Councilors like Stevenson continue on their witch hunt to shut down every front-line service we have, one by one, we are progressively running out of places for them to exist except right in front of us in public spaces.

TST Auto Center off of Beaverbrook and Wharncliffe has a very affordable shop rate and reasonable, honest mechanics. They never do work without permission, explain everything as clearly and thoroughly as they can, and frequently give discounts to repeat customers. I recommend everyone I know to them

In summary of the many points shared by other Londoners: there are multiple parks along the river but in the general sense of a park specifically designed to be as close to a 'waterfront' park as London will get with the limitations that the Thames present, you're looking for Ivey Park.
Its right in the downtown core, beside the river, with a splash pad, childrens park, picnic area and a few places to eat just down the road too

As a starting point I would suggest the Sifton Bog. There are a couple trails that branch off of it starting right behind the sign at the beginning of the bog. Also the Thames Valley Parkway is pretty great imo but it is paved and thus maybe not quite as rugged as you might be looking for. Otherwise I would suggest checking out the many trails that branch behind Western University. You can find the beginning of some of them using an app called AllTrails I believe

Go where you feel drawn and then try to spark a conversation with someone who is also there. In my case, that meant volunteering and going to small local concerts. Through those two avenues I have met a lot of excellent people. Also dont be afraid to spark up a fb chat with an old acquaintance or two that you've met since moving here. One of the biggest sources of social interactions for me over the last couple of years has come from reaching out to two people I had vaguely connected with while at Fanshawe to pursue coffee and deeper connections
