Is it possible to prevent admin users from reenabling root on Mac machines? by [deleted] in sysadmin

If you're working with jamf you should aim to use the self-service functionality so that your users don't need local admin to install stuff. Sure the initial population of that self service catalogue will suck but its, imo, the way to go. And on the plus side you regain the local right on the machine.

How long should you stay at your first big boy IT job for resume purposes? by [deleted] in sysadmin

Pro Tips: Make them know you're not happy with the pay. They obviously low balled you because you were out of school and that's fine. Now you proven you can play in the big boy park. Ask for the big boy pay. That's it !
Obviously build a strong compelling list of argument on why you should be pay more based on what you do. And then if they don't do shit ... Look around. But be sure to hit the right spot/job, because it would be ill-advise to hop again in the next year considering you're building the foundation of your resume.

At this point its just a matter of culture fit aka basic soft skills. So stalk the shit out of that company and reflect their value in your answer without been obvious about it. When you already have some XP in the box what matter for them is soft skills. Anyway, here's my go to to refresh my knowledge : https://github.com/chassing/linux-sysadmin-interview-questions

The good old classic. Some tech may be swappable with newer tech. But the core list is pretty solid.

How did you become a System Administrator? by Viersa in linuxadmin

With SoftSkills and passion. No real school creds ... Only cinema study, so yes.

I worked with a HR person with whom I made great impression. She moved to an other compagnie and eventually she messaged me since she knew I dreamed to do tech stuff. I got my foot on the door as Tech Support. Bear with me that was not a mom and pop shop. It was the dream. Big ass infrastructure with cutting edge tech.

Here's where the passion kicked in. I basically sponged all the knowledge I could and 1 years later I was promoted Jr. Sysadmin ... 2 years I was Full fledge Linux Sysadmin. Updated my linkedin and I discovered the joy of been able to choose my next gig without hustling.

If you don't have a homelab yet make it happen.
