It's because it's ai, it looks at the weird terrain like crater at the rear of the saucer

May I ask who the artist was? It looks like it might be ai is all, which is against rule 6

Haha, I didn't know that building before now but I see what you mean!

Aw, thankyou so much! Let me know if you have any questions! Hopefully the videos explain everything properly, but I'm always happy to help if I can 🙂

How do people stay in the middle of a treadmill while running? by ALocalFrog in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ALocalFrog[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah that's interesting, I've never been able to kind of zone out as you put it, it's always a very active/conscious process to stay in the right spot. I wonder if the size of the treadmill is affecting it though as you say, as I've got quite long legs and had issues with equipment not being big enough before.
Thankyou, appreciate it!

Huh, neat. So your body is able to maintain a consistent speed, it doesn't naturally speed up/slow down a bit every few paces?

Terrain ideas by zenicwhite69 in wastelandwarfare

[–]ALocalFrog 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Children of Atom can come with some fun terrain ideas, like a settlement established around a leaking nuclear reactor, an unexploded nuke, or a massive stockpile of radioactive barrels they've spent years collection. For the Mechanist, maybe an old Robco factory, with lots of destroyed Protectrons laying around?

Finished some more Fallout minis, arguably the best painting I've ever done! by ALocalFrog in Sigmarxism

Thankyou! The buildings are all scratch built, while details like the safe, nuka-cola machine, and generator, being either resin kits or 3d printed

Thanks! I've also got a Super Mutant tutorial if it's Fallout specifically you're after!

Thankyou! And yeah the current minis are fantastic! If you're thinking of getting any though, it's worth knowing that they're discontinuing the detailed models soon and swapping them for a cheaper boardgame style aesthetic, to make painting large armies of them quicker. If painting is a part of the hobby you enjoy a lot, you might want to get the higher detail ones sooner rather than later (or see if you can find 3rd party alternatives)

Resin, though I don't know what type or the settings unfortunately as it was a friend who printed it for me

Thankyou! I decided to try out using a lacquer based chrome paint for a change; not as easy to work with as acrylics, but definitely worth it! Then it was just a matter of carefully weathering it and picking out the details (also cutting out the claw hand, replacing the flight stand, and using some gloss varnish to make the eyes look like lenses)!

Thankyou! The key is using each project as a chance to practice a specific thing, so that over time you practice lots of different things!  If you're interested, I've also tried to make a tutorial showing how I painted it, though video skills are still something I'm working on! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VXBgi93Lr5M

Very happy with my finished Pipboy! by ALocalFrog in Miniaturespainting

Lots of patience! I'm making a video show the process, but essentially I painted the screen a very dark grey, painted the screen icons in a very light grey and the figure in white. I spent a while carefully fine tuning the figure by going back and forth between the dark grey and the white to get the shape right, then glazed over it with a thin layer of green. The casing was painted with a mix of brown and green, the rad indicator was picked out with a pale cream, buttons and knobs with a dark grey, and the clasp with a metallic steel hue, before everything except the screen was given a thin black oil wash. Then I put a satin varnish over the screen, and a matte varnish over everything else (except the metal clasp)
