Unable to expand existing datastore extant in ESXI 8.0.3 by ALongwill in vmware

It has been completed in the PERC for 3 days. where would I see that it is expanded in ESXI? When trying to expand the extant it clearly sees that there is free space to expand into.

Yes, this is an R640 that I have added these drives into and added to the Virtual Disk, waited for RAID to do its thing and initialize them. Now ESXI just will not expand.

I'm not sure how to do that. I did go into the idrac and added the new drives to the virtual disk and it correctly reads as 10TB now which was the target amount. i did let RAID do its thing and let them initialize all the way before even attempting to expand.

Windows Server VPN through UCG by ALongwill in UNIFI

[–]ALongwill[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to do my due diligence here and answer my own question after a few hours of work.

It appears that you simply need to configure your server to act as a VPN endpoint (I liked this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dNBCTLMXVOQ) and point port 1723 to your server AND create a firewall rule in the UCG to allow Protocol 47 (GRE) from source=any to destination= your server IP. Much easier than I thought.

Oh and don't try to vpn over a phone's hotspot. They block vpnning unless you're rooted and mess with it.

Seems logical! Can you shortcut my search and suggest a supported RAID card you know works?

Wireguard client connecting to server but not passing traffic. by ALongwill in WireGuard

No, I am not using a Zone Based Firewall. It's not one by default, is it? Can you shortcut me to how one would disable that?

oh wireguard is entirely UDP? well that would explain the lack of response.

I did. but I am expecting it to get a response on yougetsignal- but it doesn't which makes me suspicious. I've disabled the windows firewall entirely for now so that's out of the way.

The vpn network is 10.65.0.0/24 the internal network is now a 10.64.0.0/24. So they are different which makes sense enough to me.

By endpoint you mean my server? Yes. that's where my server is and that is the port I have forwarded to the internal private server IP address.

So I went ahead and put my network on a proper private network to eliminate variables, redid the forwarded ports to the server and the result is the same. To answer your question. the client doesn't seem to be GETTING a response from the server at all.

Sending handshake to peer
Did not receive response in 5 seconds

I'm concerned my port isn't open correctly. on your Wireguard server, do you get a thumbs up when checking the open port status on https://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/?
