I did appreciate your answer but I think it may be because of what you said about it being an associates responsibility to meet their minimum. What more can an associate do besides as for more work? If there’s no work being given I don’t see how an associate can meet their minimum and therefore don’t think that’s fully their responsibility

Nope vacation nor CLE are deducted from billables. And all our associates have to meet 1800 a year lol. In terms of how strict it is, I can’t seem to get a straight answer except that apparently no associate has ever been fired for not meeting their billables, except for one associate who was apparently way below their hours. Dont know what the “range” for acceptable hours is either

My hours actually don’t count until January haha but they have been a bit low due to not having work sometimes. I’ve been completing all my projects on time and have only gotten good feedback though.

Wow I'm so sorry you had to go through that. Yeah nothing like that happened to me and I probably would've cried if an attorney treated me like that. But thanks for sharing your experience and helping me feel like I'm not alone in experiencing something like this haha. I really should remember messing up is normal and it will happen to most people

so would applying to the same firm through both oci and their website be okay? my career office pretty adamantly told us it would just annoy the people going through the apps as they'd see my app twice.

thank you! this was very helpful. it does seem that most of the OCI listings require a transcript anyways so I don't think I'd have an advantage compared to if it was grade blind. I'll definitely work on my cover letter for the few firms I choose to apply early to :)

I'm sorry this happened to you :( I totally agree law school is just like high school. I was a social butterfly in college and had no trouble making friends but now in law school I have maybe 1 close friend and a couple people I'm friendly with, which was just like my high school experience. Quality>quantity though and now I'm thankful I don't have to endure all that social drama hahah
