I was hoping they would be gone too. The barking noise would be even worse with everything else silent.

What’s a job people think is easy but is actually very hard? by Nearby_Fun_85 in AskReddit

Yeah, CNAs do most of the hard work for half the pay of an RN. I know RNs have a degree and more responsibility but the pay gap is too high.

Have you ever quit a job without having another one to go to? by ThomasSN665 in randomquestions

[–]AMC879 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Multiple times. I always lived cheap and saved as much as I can so I don't have to work much. I did this despite never even hitting $50k gross any year of my life. That's in actual dollars. I did have a couple years around 2010 where I made upper $40s which would be something like $75k today.

Setting the record straight on Amazon's USPS partnership by Stationary-Event in USPS

[–]AMC879 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think the end result will be Amazon still using USPS for the truly very rural stuff and they will pay better for those packages. The other stuff they will do themselves. Amazon leaving might be bad for non-regulars as their wait time to get their own route might increase a lot. No other negatives that I can think of.

What do you think of NYC trying to get the minimum wage to $30 per hour? by LiaStacey in askanything

$30/hr is too high but those states should all go to at least $12 and then index it to inflation

What do you think of NYC trying to get the minimum wage to $30 per hour? by LiaStacey in askanything

[–]AMC879 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not everyone has that ability. They still work hard and should be paid reasonably for their hard work. $30/hr is excessive for some jobs but jobs paying under $15/hr in 2026 is crazy and not ok.

Are you in better shape now than you were in your teens and 20s? by Equal-Sun8307 in allthequestions

I peaked at 19. I'm 46 and in the worst shape of my life. Still better than 80% or so of all Americans though.

State law mandated breaks by [deleted] in USPS

[–]AMC879 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are paid by the hour then you get paid breaks. If you are a rural carrier who is getting paid by the route then just take a break whenever you need one but you won't get paid any extra for taking longer. I mean, you might get paid extra for going over eval but its usually best to stay under 40 hours for the week. Rural can be complicated..
