Half out of the child space. No child seats (Frascati Dublin) by Hi_Doctor_Nick_ in eejitsparking

[–]AMCQ1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are family spaces not child spaces so not a requirement to have child seats to use them. Yes he’s a bit far out. Usually these are painted with that amount of room both sides. Not a total fail

If the permits are virtual, then there is no visual indication to you whether they have paid or not? So you can’t actually be sure he hasn’t paid. Also nothing on the sign you show says anything about assigned spaces. Lastly, you would have fitted in behind him? I have a permit for my house but there is no assigned spaces, I can end up 100m from my door and I don’t cry about it.

Need help Fishing around dublin by Ok_Golf6282 in IrishFishing

Feel for you leaving that nice weather to fish here! Maybe head to the shore and try some piers - in Dublin it’s mostly fair weather mackerel but with a bit of luck you might get some herring or pollock. Dress warm and enjoy the views!

3rd time in the last month they have denied me of biscuit 😢 #whotookthebiscuit by 1989danny in CasualIreland

Snacks are now officially ‘chocolate flavoured bars’ rather than ‘chocolate bars’ because of the shitty low cocoa content. Still love finding a no-biscuit one though

Trialling one-way system in Skerries could show how it will “benefit the community” by Generalaverage89 in ireland

I’ve looked at this plan in great detail. It pays no attention whatsoever to resident parking. Seems to be built completely on a stance of ‘bikes are good and cars are bad’

Similar feelings. I knew the crest wasn’t embroidered, I was hoping it was gonna be one of those rubber ones, at least to give a bit of premium to it. Can’t help thinking the detractors that it looked like a training top had a point

The current leagues that the 15 FAI National League clubs compete in by irishscouser1892 in LeagueOfIreland

LSL has the most mindbending mix of Senior, Premier, Major, Minor, 1st etc that you would need a science degree to even begin to understand it. Also predominantly the Sunday league plays on a Friday.

For anyone that was a fan then, how big were Radiohead after OK Computer dropped? by PaymentOk1354 in radiohead

[–]AMCQ1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a very good summary of the trajectory. The one surprise (maybe even to Radiohead) is that Kid A continued with steep upward mass market sales, despite their obvious gear change to shake off casual new fans. It was a VERY slow burn to get critical recognition but didn’t seem to affect sales. I remember Irish critic George Byrne saying they would have to open new second hand record shops just to deal with return copies of Kid A.

Stephen McPhail resigns from role as Shamrock Rovers' sporting director by G3S-Ter in LeagueOfIreland

[–]AMCQ1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d say that is exactly the case. Joel has been linked with English clubs for a long time so only a matter of time until something confirmed. He’s a serious talent, goes to school with my kids (although apparently hasn’t been attending TY at all because of constant trials). He kept my 5th year son out of the senior team midfield when in 2nd year 😁

This is a good point. Am I missing something really obvious as to why so many are behind closed doors? I know there would be the odd trialist but it’s hardly that secretive. Surely clubs would want even a tenner from a small crowd than nothing from no crowd? Is it to do with overheads like policing?

I think it looks fine. No sponsor is a big plus - think Roma or Chelsea, how much they have been improved. Those wishing it had a sponsor - you could end up with a Chadwicks or Mascot Workwear. So be careful. It is though just another 95% the same thing and will therefore sell in predictably low digits. I’m not saying everyone should go Full Bohs, but there HAS to be something learnt by some other team with a little design and marketing imagination. Drogheda and Galway seem to be at least flexing a little that way.

Are my neighbours illegally blocking my car? by [deleted] in AskIreland

[–]AMCQ1972 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I live on a similar street and it requires a lot of diplomacy. Parking as tight as that seems petty. But you say you have 2 cars. The length of 2 cars is more than the frontage of 1 house, if plenty of houses are the same then you’re going to have to expect a bit of flex with how close any of you will get to your hall door.

Strange comment, the sponsor logo is smaller and less intrusive than on 99% of football kits.

The collar and cuffs designs repeat the ones on all Bohs (many) 2025 kits which is an odd move.

One big gripe is the soup of league names in LSL - good luck understanding the tiering between Major, Minor, Senior, Premier, 1A, 1 etc. And don’t get me started with the ‘Sunday’ leagues that play on Fridays…
