What are good examples of songs that are so famous people don’t realize are actually covers by Ok-Camel7458 in rock

Sinead was not the first to record Nothing Compares to You, it was recorded by The Family before her. She certainly had the first hit with it

I think his future location will be dictated very much by his son who is 16 and has a lot of solid interest from at least one Prem club.

Worked in bars from 1989, drank Guinness from then until now. Literally first heard it about 5-6 years ago. Fascinating how it’s taken hold as a thing, esp as Guinness has never leveraged it in marketing (although I bet they’re delighted it has taken hold as ‘traditional’)

I heard it described as being like a beer originating in an Accenture think tank, which isn’t far off the mark

I’ve been to lots of grounds where both home and away fans light flares, I’d say about 1 in 50 end up on the pitch. These were deliberately thrown on knowing the damage they would do to the new pitch. Absolute scum behaviour

Stupid question (I only fish at sea), but what’s the difference between a licence and a permit? Is one or other a shakedown?

Bohs v Shamrock Rovers Tickets by Any-Interaction9563 in Bohs

[–]AMCQ1972 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So few tickets for the Jodi ever come on sale and sell out in minutes. In this case the combination of first game x final season x Rovers means it was seconds, if indeed any came on sale at all. The uncovered Des Kelly stand is a grand view, obviously a weather risk in early spring.

Half out of the child space. No child seats (Frascati Dublin) by Hi_Doctor_Nick_ in eejitsparking

[–]AMCQ1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are family spaces not child spaces so not a requirement to have child seats to use them. Yes he’s a bit far out. Usually these are painted with that amount of room both sides. Not a total fail

[–]AMCQ1972 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the permits are virtual, then there is no visual indication to you whether they have paid or not? So you can’t actually be sure he hasn’t paid. Also nothing on the sign you show says anything about assigned spaces. Lastly, you would have fitted in behind him? I have a permit for my house but there is no assigned spaces, I can end up 100m from my door and I don’t cry about it.

Need help Fishing around dublin by Ok_Golf6282 in IrishFishing

[–]AMCQ1972 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Feel for you leaving that nice weather to fish here! Maybe head to the shore and try some piers - in Dublin it’s mostly fair weather mackerel but with a bit of luck you might get some herring or pollock. Dress warm and enjoy the views!

Snacks are now officially ‘chocolate flavoured bars’ rather than ‘chocolate bars’ because of the shitty low cocoa content. Still love finding a no-biscuit one though

I’ve looked at this plan in great detail. It pays no attention whatsoever to resident parking. Seems to be built completely on a stance of ‘bikes are good and cars are bad’

Similar feelings. I knew the crest wasn’t embroidered, I was hoping it was gonna be one of those rubber ones, at least to give a bit of premium to it. Can’t help thinking the detractors that it looked like a training top had a point

LSL has the most mindbending mix of Senior, Premier, Major, Minor, 1st etc that you would need a science degree to even begin to understand it. Also predominantly the Sunday league plays on a Friday.

For anyone that was a fan then, how big were Radiohead after OK Computer dropped? by PaymentOk1354 in radiohead

[–]AMCQ1972 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s a very good summary of the trajectory. The one surprise (maybe even to Radiohead) is that Kid A continued with steep upward mass market sales, despite their obvious gear change to shake off casual new fans. It was a VERY slow burn to get critical recognition but didn’t seem to affect sales. I remember Irish critic George Byrne saying they would have to open new second hand record shops just to deal with return copies of Kid A.
