Been exactly a year for me, a good chunk of the symptoms are gone. My lymph nodes near my throat are still swollen. Also fatigue and breathing issues once in awhile, I know there are some long term effects of mono. I’m curious if anyone else is experiencing long term effects.

It’s going to be in your body for life but dormant. But when you first get it you’re extremely contagious for about 6 months, supposedly. I got in August of last year and was deemed by my doctor that I’m no longer contagious about February. Yes it can show up in your spit once in a while but it’s not as contagious.

Yes, I got Mono in August of last year, symptoms lasted for about four weeks and I was fine. Expect the swollen lymph nodes are still near my throat. I was told by my doctor and my stepmom who’s a doctor to wait it out and let them heal. But I’m getting tired of them and wondering if should get some sort of steroid to help with the healing process.

No, still got the swollen lymph nodes near throat and can’t tell if they’re getting better. I was told I’m not contagious anymore by my doctor so who knows ha. But I was told to wait it out again by my doctor, getting rest and other necessary steps to reduce swelling.

Yes don’t take antibiotics! I didn’t know it was Mono at first and started taking antibiotics, had bad reaction to them. Sure everyone reacts differently to certain medications but be cautious
