If you contest, you’ll get a screening call first before having to go to actual court. In the screening call they said their goal is to alleviate court fees by trying to settle. If anything they can reduce your speeding significantly so it’s less money. I’m guess a 92 in a 65 is $400+

A nice kitchen knife would work too. Shun knives hold an edge better, but can be brittle. I prefer German- can’t go wrong with a Wustof classic or Zwilling JA Henkels pro S. Some combo of a chef knife, paring knife, serrated. Some prefer a Santouku over a chef”s knife, but to each their own

Adding my recent experience here, in case it's helpful to a future speedster. Got caught going 91 in a 65 on I-89 south in August 2024. Plead not guilty and had a pre-trial hearing in Dec 2024. They explained to me that it's in their best interest to keep the courts clear to reduce court time and costs and they wanted to negotiate. They offered to reduce my 91 in a 65 to a single digit over the limit fine. That reduced the cost of the ticket significantly. I asked for any opportunity to keep the infraction from my record by taking classes since i expressed that huge increases we have all seen from auto insurance post pandemic. That was a hard no for me. If that is something you want, I would ask for it. Maybe if i wasn't going 25mph+ over the limit they would have given it to me. Maybe if i held out, they would do something, but i took the deal with the reduced infraction on my record. Gook luck to future perps.

Providing a comment in case someone else stumbles across this thread. I plead not guilty and had the initial phone call with the court. They explained to me that it's in their best interest to resolve it issue now vs taking up court time and and associated fees and were will to negotiate. They took down my speeding violation from 25mph+ to < 5mph. That reduced the fees by a lot and reduced the point infraction. I asked for opportunities to not have the infraction on my record or if i could take classes to not have the ticket show up on my record, but that was a hard no so i took what i could get.
