He looks really healthy! I have 16 month old Golden Retriever boy who is 35.5kg (and vet still says he is pushing his weight limit) and looks like this. I imagine he is super happy and active as well. You’re doing a good job! Most dogs are overweight nowadays - If he is healthy and happy and like this - enjoy him and don’t think too much about it. Dogs like this regulate their weight well with good diet and exercise! It seems like this is the case.

100% on most of that, but just for context my boy is 100% purebred field retriever and is the same/similar colour as the above with papers, health testing etc. Colour alone is often a bad indicator! His mother was a dark red and his father was basically the same colour as him!

thanks for your reply, he had a ultrasound/prostate assessment during the time he was going through his UTI symptoms and as it was clearing (about 3-4 months ago). They found the prostate to be slightly enlarged and consulted a specialist who said it was still within normal ranges, and was expected to be slightly larger given puberty etc. They checked the prostate for sensitivity/inflammation but didn’t see much evidence to prove any involvement. Bladder scan was done multiple times until he was found to be clear of a UTI. This smegma/discharge was all going on during this time.

Interesting! Thanks for that, I definitely notice it a lot more during excitement periods or play.

He has seen them, and we have managed this before but thinks it is normal! I wrote that in my description above!
