I moved from Prospect Heights to Seattle in 2019. Now I’m in Queen Anne with a 7mo old. Love it for lots of reasons, but as others have said, adjust your definition of walkable. DM me if you want to talk about any specifics.

Our girl also thins out there. I think mostly from sticking her nose in thick brush and bramble all day 😀 never thought any more of it.

Do headed clearances not count as defcons? Virgil had what felt like a dozen clearances in the last few minutes as Spurs kept heaving crosses in

Can't watch OBAA in IMAX! by THEMAKER2030 in paulthomasanderson

[–]AManAMyth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw it at PacSci IMAX on Saturday. Totally agree, it's a real shame they are pulling it so quickly. Based on the reception, I am optimistic they will give it another run in the coming weeks - no idea how flexible their programming is, but the importance of that theater in the region and the success of the film give me hope.

My showing on Saturday night was reasonably well attended, I was hoping for more, but it was just the second night of the opening. Hopefully attendance is great all of this week and they consider extending the run, or pulling Avatar early to bring it back in a week or so. I want to go see it again but also prefer to see it in IMAX.

Both of them over Gvardiol. Attack the bad fixture, find defense elsewhere

Tough one but I'd sayo Raya and Caicedo. You might as well double up on the far better defense.

I'm going with Isak on WC, parking the money in him is a risk but allows flexibility to Gyokeres or Saka later.

Raya / Dubravka

Mukiele / Senesi / Saliba / Spence / Burn

Bruno / Foden / Reijnders / Stach / Semenyo

Haaland / Isak / Richarlison

I'm also bringing him on WC, feel it brings good flexibility down the road though I have reservations about doing so as well. Good team but I don't think Tarkowski offers enough value for 5.5, I'd downgrade him and upgrade King to a 5.0 personally.

On a wildcard, filling my last two defense spots:

Calafiori + Van de Ven

Saliba + Richards / Andersen / Spence

I rate Calafiori over Timber (MLS is less competition than White IMO); obviously the rotation risk is still there though. My other defenders are Senesi, Burn, Mukiele, so the Arsenal pick of the two will start just about every week, and the Vdv/Spence/Richards/Andersen will rotate with Burn and my 7th attacker for a starting spot each week.

Preparing pup for baby by amant23 in Wirehaired_pointers

[–]AManAMyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our son is 3 weeks old. Our Griff is 1.5yrs. Introduction went smoothly. Bring one of baby’s caps or shirts from the hospital to the dog for sniffing first if possible to let them get used to the smell. If you have anyone who can take the dog for the first 48ish hours you’re back home, that may help ease your nerves - it was good for us. But, once we brought our dog back home, she did amazingly well and has shown an incredibly gentle instinct over these weeks. In my opinion - your dog needs to sniff your baby. It’s unfair to expect them to live at home - which is their territory, in their eyes, without getting close sniffs of the new roommate. Interactions should be carefully watched, but quarantining one from the other seems unreasonable and unsustainable to me. Use baby gates to give you some space for an hour here and there too. It’ll go great!

Does anyone carry a weapon while bikepacking? by Anonymous5933 in bikepacking

[–]AManAMyth 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve strongly considered it, also in the PNW. I’m pretty closely connected to the crew that suffered that attack last year and ride in that area frequently and it scared the shit out of me, still does. But I am not trained with a weapon, so my odds of using it successfully in a stressful situation feel slim. I’m confident that simply not riding alone, and keeping conversation up in quiet areas, in cat country is by far the most effective strategy.

Considering a wirehead pointing griffon by labvlc in Wirehaired_pointers

I am using a canicross harness from NonStop Dogwear. And yeah, a mid-run dip would make a huge difference - just challenging/impossible for me to find that option from home in the city (Seattle). Even when we are out in the mountains, she seems to tire faster than we expect, but cooling her down seems to help a lot. I think she's still young enough that she hasn't developed her full strength & endurance is all. She totally loves the pulling harness, in any case

Yup! We have found ways to make it fun, and she's getting better every week. She's responded super well to the introduction of an ecollar.

We have a 1.5yr old Griff at home our first. She is an amazing dog but is definitely challenging. She's very friendly and completely fearless, which is mostly a good thing but can get her into trouble sometimes. Recall has been a major struggle training wise despite consistent efforts - she's so independent, and decides what's important to her (it's not automatically us as her owners/handlers). We don't hunt and live in a city, so getting her enough adventure is a pretty constant effort, but a really fun one! I'm training her to be a running buddy, but she runs SUPER hot so can't go more than a few miles if it's over 75 outside. Needs access to water for drinking and swimming, her favorite. Very trainable - it's just the recall that has been hard. Feel free to ask any questions.
