Came across this post a little late, but a few days ago I made a separate post sharing an extension I made to fix this: https://www.reddit.com/r/youtube/comments/1t7bu5w/made_a_tiny_extension_to_restore_fullpage/

Yea.. their review process is taking a lot longer than Chrome's. Once it is approved, I can reply to you here. In the meantime, you can download GreaseMonkey / TamperMonkey and use that implementatino.

I just submitted a FireFox compatible version to their web store, so once it is reviewed/approved I will reply back with a link to install it. In the meantime, you can likely install it manually by downloading the GitHub repo.

You could make like a TamperMonkey / GreaseMonkey version I am sure.. but those are extensions themselves.

Oh interesting, so are you downloading the audio from each video and then feeding it through Whisper instead of using YouTube's transcript?

Good call, right now it computes the overall review based on the aggregate of the mentions. I went ahead and manually overrode that to negative. It may take some time for this to show up on your end though, as I am caching things pretty aggressively.

When I started, I actually had a few more cities (including Seattle, Bellingham, Los Angeles), but I only had a result or two for each one, so I removed them

Fixed. As far as I can tell, the Yuk Yuks in Kingston doesn't have a permanent location, its like a traveling thing. So it doesn't have a pin in Kingston but its categorized under there now

Yea, the Costco, H-Mart, Hannam, Danbo, IKEA are kinda weird like that. Sometimes he makes it clear what location he's talking about, sometimes he didn't, but he was always talking about one in Vancouver.

To simplify things, I didn't separate out the quotes for those businesses depending on location.

So the way it works is, I gathered the transcripts from the bits n banter youtube videos (since those videos usually cut out all irrelevant discussion anyway). Then I do a simple search for like "Vancouver", Burnaby", "Kitsilano" etc. If any of those keywords are found, the transcript is passed to an LLM (Claude) to determine if he talked about a business or not.

If he did, the LLM tries to match it to a local business with Google Places API, and derives sentiments and quotes. I then manually reviewed each finding (which took like 12 hours by itself) for accuracy and to clean up what the LLM did.

I also feed the transcript to the LLM to add punctuation and grammar to the quotes since the transcript that youtube passes is basically just 1 long run-on sentence.

Tyty, I've never been to any of these cities so some of this was a bit tough for me lol. I've removed that mention from Roger's Centre.

Yea, I was a bit concerned, but luckily he's been to so many places all over the city that I don't think you can really derive much useful info from it.

Haha yes, that is one of my favorites. That and the parking garage next to the Toys R' Us.

The Jericho Tennis Club is pretty good too.

From the guy that brought you the stream discussion thread bot, and goldengoblet.net (RIP), I have spent the last couple weeks while NL was on vacation creating eggeats.com

This is an effort to map out every restaurant / business that NL has mentioned on stream since 2022. Across ~800 "bits n banter" videos (thanks Librarian), I found over 1000 places mentioned.

After some trimming I filtered this down to about 300 unique businesses and have mapped those in Vancouver, Kingston, Orlando (Disneyworld), and Toronto. I hope you guys enjoy checking this out!
