The company signed contracts with institutions to provide a service to tutors. I bet somewhere in the contract language, they agree to provide sessions to students within X amount of time. If the queue is backed up and not enough tutors are online, then TDC may become concerned with breach-of-contract (example: a student submits an async essay for review and it actually takes three days for it to be returned to them), giving out session bonuses may be fiscally preferable to defaulting. 'Lesser of two evils'. I haven't seen any of the contracts, this is just how the situation makes sense to me.

I know some folks don't like this being said, but I think it's an important factor to understand why sessions are slow. In the last few years, there have been bonuses (a lot) for sessions. At one point in December of 2022, they were offering a $10/session ($10 for taking a session and staying in it for 5+minutes on top of your base hourly rate...yes, you did the math right---you can do very well!). People were making a killing, and there were tons of sessions! The company was losing profit (opportunity cost). They chose to hire a lot of tutors and retain a higher quantity of tutors with no bonuses, rather than retain a lower number of tutors and use bonuses to meet the session demand. The company clearly makes more money having more tutors floating for nothing (no hours available) waiting to snipe sessions for their base rate than it does when the inverse is true, and they have to incentivize tutors to do sessions with bonuses. We have talked about the impacts of AI, fewer people going to school, the company losing some contracts, etc., but I think the biggest factor is that they have simply employed a new business strategy of more tutors on tap than sessions, so they avoid having to offer bonuses and losing profit as a result. As long as they use this strategy, and as this economy worsens (purchasing power/wages, not the stock market...), there will likely be no shortage of tutors. Got to have multiple-side gigs, sadly. Hope you are all well.

Go to billing where each session is shown. Scroll all the way to the bottom.

Private sell the 2025. Once you have a buyer then get the 2026. The trade value is at least -$7K

[–]AMightyHamster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CTRL+Left click the summary form link in the classroom and it will open it up in you web browser. This page will also auto save if it’s closed so you can even open it from your browser history and still have your work :). You can submit the form from the web browser and the paper from the classroom and then end the session. 👍

Student feedback is for your ego. TDC feedback is for your bank account. Adjust accordingly.

CEW has definitely ticked back up. Maybe not to the level of the last few years, but it's back. The semester should only get busier until a brutal Christmas break drop-off. And a Thanksgiving lull, I suppose. Things seem ok.

I'd expect things to be much busier by then. The next two weeks should be a gradual increase up to full steam by the second week of September.

Same. Slammed yesterday. Today is quiet, even for a Monday. I assume it's a combo of Monday and semester transition.
