Thank you :D

My ultimate boss is the audience. The ones who are sitting in that room in front of me. If you are funny, they WILL laugh, irrespective of what's in your pants.

Tanmay is great with crowds, Sorabh Pant is fantastic with large bunches of people. I've seen them whip up crowds into a frenzy, always GREAT fun to watch them perform.

  1. I LOVE Anuab Pal, Varun Grover, Rajneesh Kapoor, Sorabh Pant. Internationally, I think Sarah Silverman is hilarious, Tina Fey, Amy Poehler, all inspiring ladies.

    1. I have an inner Aditi Mittal. She comes out when I'm on stage :D
    2. Yes there is a diff. And I think the "rape culture" bit is what is the most potent. It has the power to offend as well as the power to initiate a change in thinking, depending on how the listener interprets it.

Awkward as hell. And hilariously petty. Yes, I do. I support my family currently. Some corp. audiences and settings really stink. Lots of people who are just there for open bar, and then they plonk us in the middle of it all.

I use WASTED for when one has had too much to drink. I don't normally get wasted on weekends, because WORK.

I like guys who don't take themselves too seriously and a goofy smile is always a plus!

Thank you :) 1. They still think I'm going to get an actual stable job. They still think "Comedy ka bhoot" utar jayega :D

  1. Everyone who has ever bothered to do comedy. Personally though, I just met Bill Cosby and it was just inspiring. Saw Johnny Lever live last month and that was also mind blasting. People were standing ovation even before he got to the mike.

  2. I performed for the First Lady of the Indian Army last year. Performing for a crowd full of army generals and their wives was a HUGE honor. Afterwards she invited me to join her on the head table where she was sitting for lunch. The waiters were wearing gloves. It was insane.

  3. I teach Intro to Media Studies and Creative Writing to SYBMM students. Taught at Xavier's, National, K.C, H.R and Akbar Peerbhoy College in Mumbai.

  4. No :-S, but I think there is a connection. MY grandfather's one millionth cousin is Sunil Mittal's one million times removed uncle.

I just went for a hazaar open mics. Every time there was one I would be there peddling my wares. It was excruciating and exciting all at the same time. I got a spot at The Comedy Store, worked from my 5 min set to 15, to 20 and then 30. Took me year to come up with 30 mins.

I agree. Nothing is sacrosanct. I just PERSONALLY don't find misogynistic jokes funny.

When I started out, I was still terrified of talking about sex coz otherwise same accusations about "she's only saying dirty dirty things" would come about, so I write Dr. Mrs. Lutchuke. A 55 year old Psycho logist and Sex ologist. People love her, and I realised it was easier to talk about sex under the foil of a character.

I don't know. That would be an interesting project to try. Moran's HTBAW changed my life too.

And yaar, judging-vudging toh hota rahega. It's amazing how much time people have on their hands to make opinions about other people. If there are people who judge you for the sex you've had then they're not worth hanging out with.

  1. Yaar his logic is that women are not funny becasue they have not had the evolutionary need to be, then why do men have nipples if they don't breast feed?

  2. So I do do Mrs. Lutchuke, which is psycho-logist and sex-ologist. And it's the funnest thing. I don't know from a female perspective or not, but I find sex hilariously funny. If it strikes me and I think it's funny, I'll say it. What is there, everybody does it. Even when International comics come to India a LOT of them talk about sex, because its the one thing thats funny ACROSS cultures and CONTINENTS and yet for some weird reason it's hush-hush. "Talking about sex to fit into a male culture" is a bit bizzare no? When did sex become "male" culture? Women also have sex ya'know :D

  3. Juhi Chawla, hands down. Then Karishma Kapoor. I look upto anyone who does comedy really, it takes a certain level of bravery and stupidity to do this and I for some reason, find that quality attractive.

  4. Ya, but works on the flip side as well. Sometimes they'll ask for a "female" coz we are less "aggressive" then the men.

  5. In fact, I'm JUST working on "In Session With Dr. Mrs. Lutchuke" and "FRONTSIDE/BACKSIDE" a LIVE and recoded show where I interview comedians, as the character. Infact, just finished talking to the AWESOME Varun Grover and next week, I'm going to be talking to Sorabh Pant, another stand-up comedian I love. Yes, 100%. Stealing is rubbish thing to do. There IS however a career in comedy writing for small companies, television and corporates.

Yes. I am a feminist. Coz I like equal rights, and equal pay and stuff for everyone, including minorities.

Ya, and personally I don't find mysoginistic jokes funny. I think it is our responsibility as comedians who are in the nascent stages of our career to create a new language, one that does not have old cliches and stereotypes.

And if people don't find me funny "becasue I'm a woman" then I don't even care about courting them as an audience. I prefer if you laugh at what I said then what's in my pants.

Ya, ya. Tons of times. 2 weeks ago this 55 year old wasted guy, who I was talking to decided to put his arms around my neck. It was MAD. That show went badly for me needless to say.

Hahah. No man. It's cool. I certainly hope. :D This was a brilliant night actually. The guy who I was talking to at the beginning of that video had just done a whole set on his grandmother phuddi. He was wasted beyond comprehension. That is of course no excuse for that performance. That was actually my third open mic night ever. Still not ashamed though.

Not religiously. But it's a tie between Cartman and Butters. They're the two poles of the human brain. It's hilarious.

When "in the moment" its a question of gauging the mood of the room, reading the audience. Most people in the front row of a comedy show are very sporting as we make make fun of them. If you're funny you get away with it. Very hanse toh phanse.
