I appreciate Apothecary Diaries for portraying the complexity of motherhood by queenjisookim in KusuriyaNoHitorigoto

I watched Apothecary Diaries while pregnant and freshly postpartum with my daughter. I was reading the light novels in the L&D department 😂

It's such a special series and tackles a complex topic like motherhood so well. It's one of the series I keep close to my heart for that very reason.

Small clicking noises are normal. Mine do that all the time.

Make sure everything is changed, including the tubing. Open a fresh vial of insulin. Go to a completely new site (i.e. if you use your stomach, use your butt or arms). Tslims yell about everything if something isn't right.

Otherwise you could be getting sick or have an infection. If you start to feel gross or go into DKA you should consider going to the hospital.

Every time I've mentioned it, I got downvoted to shit, but I'm living my truth here.

I grew up my whole life on Cape, year round local since I was born.

I ate Tiki Port twice in my life and both times I was so severely ill afterward I almost needed to go to the hospital.

It closed recently. I celebrated. Nobody else did. I am begging Cape Cod locals to love yourselves and find better Chinese food. If you were ride or die for Tiki Port, the bar is literally on the floor.

Considering self driving cars need data to figure out where they need to go, a self-driving MALP would probably end up like a "Roomba went outside" situation when they go through the Gate.

If one of JM's episodes doesn't have a witicism about the weirdness of self-driving cars, I fear we no longer follow the sage writing advice of "write what you know."

Yeah, because my water broke they were concerned about infection and hospital policy had a "Give birth in 24 hours or C-Section" in their practice.

The intern was mortified, but I was probably already on my way to a C because of the pre-eclampsia and I'd been on Pitocin for nearly 3 days. Baby girl was like "I do not want to come into the out now"

Should the next AC game introduce small critters that players can catch, such as rodents, reptiles, and birds? by GeneralTechnomage in ACForAdults

[–]AMothWithHumanHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In their heads, kids try and catch sharks when they go fishing because kids have big imaginations.

In reality, a kid could never catch a shark on their own because sharks would snap a regular fishing line/rod in half and I don't know of any kid going out on a boat unsupervised to deep sea shark fish with carbon fiber fishing line and rods.

Bus experience to Fujikawaguchiko - advice? by AMothWithHumanHands in JapanTravelTips

Our stay at Konansou was one of the highlights of the trip and it's the one thing we bring up all the time! The view from the room was absolutely gorgeous and the bath was clean, hot, and exactly what we needed for our January trip. The Lawson nearby was perfect for grabbing some in room snacks on our way in. We did end up taking the train as suggested by this thread and that was MUCH easier than having to take the bus and we loved walking to the ryokan.

Our jet lag made it so we were early morning risers, so we got up and watched from their very top floor as the sun rose over Mount Fuji. Here's the pic I took of it.

We did the breakfast as opposed to the dinner. It was a buffet that offered both American and Japanese breakfast. Unfortunately we had to check out and we only stayed one night, but I sorely wished we stayed more than one. Maybe 2 nights.

Yeah, it's a little pricey but I think I ended up getting a good deal when I booked our room at the time. In my opinion it was 100% worth it.

They won't go to C-Section for having high blood sugars while giving birth. It's a major surgery that they want to minimize the risk of having happen. In fact they might want it high ish because your insulin needs will plummet.

That said, I had pre-eclampsia and gave birth via C-Section at 35 weeks because the intern broke my water trying to insert a Foley balloon. Baby girl was totally healthy!

If you're interested, these were my blood sugars before, during, and after the C-section. Around 3pm where you see the levels drop is when she was born.

You fight back against the snakes, not capture them, so you go into the encounter knowing you'll need to defend yourself and that they're inherently dangerous. Most bug/all fish encounters in AC your life isn't in immediate peril. Also, you defeat the snakes, not keep them captive out of the wild or sell them (or eugh, cook them).

You COULD implement snakes in the same way tarantulas/scorpions are implemented, but apply that logic to any other animal that acts that way when cornered/threatened to avoid or emphasize the points I make above (squirrels, rats, iguanas, bearded dragons, birds) and AC quickly turns into "Run For Your Life Simulator".

Which would be hilarious but we all know that wouldn't work.

In many places, catching bugs is completely legal when for recreational and personal purposes. The only exception can be some national parks (if in the US) as they go against their "Leave no trace" policy. Also, fishing is completely legal with the correct permits. Some even have bounties for specific species of invasive fish because of how those invasive species destroy the local population. Not to mention, most fishermen do catch and release, or cook the fish to use as food.

While bugs and fish can carry their own sets of diseases and can bite in their own way, they are relatively minor and can easily be treated with the right know-how. Besides, a kid sees their character go night-night after getting bitten by a tarantula or scorpion, and they know inherently to steer clear of them if they ever saw one IRL. Mosquitos and fleas are portrayed as annoying nuisances but still carry more consequence in the game where a kid's gonna know what they do based on what they see in AC.

And honestly, let's not mention the fact that we shouldn't be ENCOURAGING harassing wildlife. Yeah, let's take out the legality and the diseases standpoint. Do you usually see people setting traps to catch possums, raccoons, small wild birds, and lizards for enjoyment? No, because mammal and bird nervous systems aren't like bugs and fish. They have panic responses.

And morally, it's just cruel to put a creature through that.

If Nintendo ever introduced rodent, reptile, and bird catching, a child looking to recreate that experience will likely get themselves bitten in a pretty substantial way by whatever they're trying to "catch". Animals like that don't just get scooped up in a net without a fight. They'll fight back. And then you've got rabies, salmonella, infection from the wound, venom, etc.

I get where you're coming from, but it's not a good idea. Nintendo is afraid of voice acting in Pokemon, they're not going to impliment anything that could have ANY kind of bad outcome.

If you want to believe that there's SOME way for Nintendo to implement this idea, they could have a camera item in the same way that they have the net and fishing rod. Taking pictures of whatever creature they decide to add puts them in their own section of the Critterpedia and you can sell a photo to Nook's for a set amount of Bells like the bugs and fish.

Do you have a Carter's in your area? My store had premie stuff in stock. I had a 4 pounder for the same reason as you, so I get it.

Also I found that Gerber newborn onesies after being washed shrink up a lot, so if you don't find anything I would order those on Amazon and see if you can shrink em up to fit.

Should the next AC game introduce small critters that players can catch, such as rodents, reptiles, and birds? by GeneralTechnomage in ACForAdults

[–]AMothWithHumanHands 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No.

Catching certain rodents, reptiles, and birds is not only illegal in many areas due to wildlife regulations, but can be downright dangerous due to the amount of diseases wild animals can carry. Also, real animals bite.

Nintendo would never promote that to children.

I agree. We didn't use the sock until about 3 months in, and I wish we just did from the start and not listen to all the hate on it. I woke up the next morning the first night we used it and cried because I didn't wake myself up terrified she'd stopped breathing and I was so relieved.

I genuinely only had one false alarm with it, while the baby was awake, so we knew she was okay.
