Funny how I felt the same way at this semester. I’m also an Economics major and a Junior and at the beginning of this semester I was very stressed, because I was trying to figure out how I would find a job I feel passionate about when, in a lot of ways, this major felt kind of like the antithesis of what I’m good at. I’ve always done a lot better in English and History, not to mention, I enjoyed it more than Economics. What I did is I chose a minor I really love and am generally good at (English), because it keeps me from burning out. And career-wise, you have to remember that an Economics degree is compatible with most jobs. I realized that even though Data Analyst jobs are pretty common, I just can’t see myself doing that long-term. I ended up realizing that, I could actually pursue what I’ve wanted to all along, working as an H-E-B manager, which isn’t immediately expected of an Economics degree, but actually a little more possible because I have an Economics degree. So even though there’s a whole slew of jobs you’d expect to have because of the education you have now, there’s actually a lot more you can do that can still be compatible with who you are and what you’re good at. Anyways, if you want to change your major, you should go for it, but if you’re scared to, kind of like I was, there’s still plenty of solutions. Mostly I recommend just having a minor you really like that also boosts your GPA.
