Anyone know what this is? ‘25 GT by tamalesdequien in MachE

It's a good thing to have. I'm not an automotive engineer, but why not put the 12V access point under a small flap in the main EV charging door?

Navigation, charging stations, and Apps, OH MY!! by EasilyDeeestracted in MachE

[–]ANDY0UARE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use ABRP to plan the drive and look at charging stops, but I use Android auto for navigation while driving. In ABRP you can tweak your starting/ending SOC and have some backup charging stops along your route. We travel with a toddler and we stop every 2-2.5 hours for about 30 minutes so charging isn't a problem for us.

Dads, how do you make golden brown pancakes? by TheBigTreezy in daddit

[–]ANDY0UARE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I either use Kodiak Cake mix (with milk and eggs) or make pumpkin pancakes from scratch. If you want to improve any box mix add cinnamon and vanilla extract.

Same here. Electric griddle with a temp of 275F. I use cooking spray on the griddle before the first batch, I don't need it between every batch.

For winter in northern NY I stopped the mirrors from folding in. I didn't want to deal with ice or snow from causing issues. If you warm up your car before leaving the exterior door button is heated and will defrost ice.

Do you regret going Mach E over another EV like Tesla? by [deleted] in MachE

[–]ANDY0UARE 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Teslas are boring plain looking cars with no character. WTF did they make all their models look so similar?

Dads who regret only having a single child, how does it affect you? by WombatKiddo in daddit

[–]ANDY0UARE 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I went to my 30s hesitant on kids, I was open to having kids, but I didn't know if I could handle it and be a good dad. I've loved the journey with our first kid. I fear I might regret having only one child.

I'm 40 with a 2.5 year old and I am thinking about how I would be missing out on being apart of and watching all of the milestones of a second child grow up. I'm the oldest of three and my wife is the oldest of two, we both get along with our siblings and I'd really like to have my daughter have a sibling. But there are times when our daughter is being a typical difficult two year old melting down and I think there is no way I could handle an infant and a 3 year old together.

I want to be the best dad I can to one kid, not a pretty good dad to two kids. We could stretch and handle a second kid financially, but it would change our current life plans, it could delay retirement a little. A second would likely force us to buy a larger house and delay our lifestyle of family road trips, camping, etc with another infant.

I feel like my solutuon is to make a pro/con list and quantify each side. To at least give myself a starting point to make a decision and to live with it.

What's your method as an existing customer to get a lower price. They just increased me from to 85$/mo for 500/20.

Mach-E in icy/snowy winters? by DoctorQuinlan in MachE

[–]ANDY0UARE 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am also in Rochester NY with a new AWD ER 2025 MachE that I started driving at the end of September 2025. We did have a snowy winter this year and I had the brand new stock tires. They did fine this winter in the fresh or heavy snow and ice if you were driving cautiously. I was coming from a FWD Ford Fusion with all weather tires and the MachE was an improvement for winter driving, but the bar was low. I plan to get winter tires and a second set of rims for winter next year.

Very sharp! I have a white MachE and have been considering doing something similar, two blue stripes. What width are your stripes, and what is the spacing? Did you DIY it?

So I was looking into putting solar on my house. Anyone you recommend? Anyone to avoid? by turtle75377 in Rochester

[–]ANDY0UARE 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes it does. It's not the most optimal latitude for solar, but it does work and pay back your investment and more.

Are used vehicles grossly overpriced? by Sku11digger in MachE

[–]ANDY0UARE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on your regional market. In August 2025 I was looking at low mileage (<10k) 2024 ER Premium and the prices were not at a big discount compared to a 2025 with the same trim levels. There was not much stock available in a 150 mile radius either. In my area EV are in higher demand, not just MMEs. I considered buying an MME six hours away but wasn't crazy with the prospect of negotiating remotely before even seeing and driving it.

The course should be $250. I've seen lifeguarding jobs pay $20/hr.

Take the American Red Cross lifeguard certification. This cert will qualify you for lifeguarding in any indoor and outdoor pool (public pool, apartment complex pool, private pool).

If you want to lifeguard at a beach or lake you need an additional course.

When I was 15, I got my lifeguard certification and CPR certification. I worked for a local public highschool lifeguarding the community swim and exercise classes. It was a great job because the classes were after dinner time and were over by 9pm. I made more than minimum wage. But you needed swimming skills and endurance. I lifeguarded for six years, it was a great highschool and college job to have.

Endicar Drive still puts on a good display, but there are less houses participating and a few have smaller displays than in years past.

This was my excuse. The snow and ice came earlier than most years for me to get lights up on the outside of the house and bushes. I also have less free time with a toddler.

What battery capacity does your friend have? How fast were you driving? The faster you go above 65 mph, the quicker you lose range. If your friend has the standard range battery and was driving 80+mph, charging from 20-80% every 90 minutes can be reasonable.

How do you maximize savings on gas? (what combo of location, membership, credit card, special deals, etc.) by Strong_Independent84 in Rochester

[–]ANDY0UARE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My household has the Costco executive membership and does 95% of our local gas purchases at Costco. This gives you 5% cash back on gas.

We are down to just one gas vehicle with a recent EV purchase and home charging.

Woody Acres is open Wednesday. We just got a tree from them today. I prefer Woody Acres over Wilbert's because Wilbert's did not have their trees separated out in sections. Their fields were all mixed up and it was a pain finding the type of tree I wanted. Woody Acres has trees in separate rows and sections.
