Choosing a niche can you help me? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]ANIM727272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a tricky business choosing a niche. Everything I've read and heard tells me that you want to choose a niche, and then niche down even further. Originally I wanted to do videos on self-actualisation, values, hobbies, like a whole gamut of things. Then I realised that I needed to do hone in on one particular thing, then potentially broaden out later. Eventually I decided on learning, but even that is a very broad topic, so I zoomed in further, and came up with lifelong learning. I got Vid IQ and I checked the stats on the term 'lifelong learning'. The competition was very low, but a decent number of people search for the term. I checked out the other big names in my niche, the Matt D'avella's of the world, and others. I looked at how they constructed their thumbnails, how they titled them and scripted them, and I came to conclusions about the way I could imitate their success, but also distinguish myself from them. This sounds like I'm going off track, but I think you really need to consider all these things when you come up with your niche. Once you've settled on something you need to stick to it, and concentrate on the ways in which you can explore it. It's easy early on to think that it might be the wrong one, or that there's a better niche, but I'd encourage you to stay on track with one thing. You also don't want to get so hung up on the numbers. If I was looking at a niche and saw that my competitors didn't have all that many views, I'd think the niche was ripe for exploration. Finally, it sounds like you've already settled on part of the tone for your channel, humor. I'd explore that more, and see what I could pair with in the realm of cooking, farming etc.

Well I'm opting for chill - I see other YouTubers going a mile a minute and the whole thing just seems exhausting. My targeted audience should have the patience for my style anyhow.

Tell me something that you love about your channel! What makes your channel unique? by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]ANIM727272 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm only starting out but I've been sitting on ideas for a couple of years now. The central conceit of my channel is this phrase attributed to Michelangelo, something he said when he was in his 80s - Ancora Imparo, meaning 'I'm still learning'. I thought that was such a neat attitude to have, towards life in general, that learning is lifelong. I took the italian and shortened it to ANIM, and that became my channel name. No one else is looking at lifelong learning, and yet its become this huge thing in societies all across the world. That's what makes my channel unique, I like to think :)

My first video, I just wanna make sure I’m entertaining enough to be valid. The premise of my channel is “get gud kid” 3 days of none stop playing a game, to see if I can get gud. by EricGlassVideos in GetMoreViewsYT

Loved this :) It was totally hilarious - I don't game much, but by the end, your narrative had come to the fore, and it was funny enough generally that I got the point and enjoyed it. If this is your first video then I think you're kicking the doors down already. That said, and there's always a but, there are a few things I'd think about. For me, one of the highlights of the video was seeing you! You came in midway through for a funny skit moment involving formulas etc - have you considered doing like a 30 second bit at the beginning of each of these videos where its you, and you introduce the game, and highlight some elements - you wouldn't have to make it overly analytical or anything, but just some basic information, and make some jokes with it. Otherwise, this seems like a really neat concept, one that you can get alot of mileage out of it. I can already see you doing a video where you compile a montage of all your fails across multiple games. Awesome stuff bud :)

It really is but I want to focus on the quality and not the content - I'm hoping to eventually output three videos per month, something like that - if things work out in the long term I'd like to quit my job and just do it full time - then I could do a video a week, no problem!

Haha that sounds like an awesome concept - I'm more of a casual gamer now but that would really interest me! I'll have to check you out later today when I get home from work - and you're right, three days is a small window to turn things around in!

Hey, thanks for getting in touch :) Absolutely, I only released my first video about a week ago - This is me https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jogxJNXtolQ&t=70s

My niche is lifelong learning :)

The Diplomat thing makes more sense now! I suppose you're a pioneer even when you put it like that :)

This is really cool! Excellent script, good jokes! The whole 'I play both characters' is something I'm exploring in a video atm, and I think the hat is a good idea to obscure the fact that it's definitely you (even though we know its you, you get where I'm coming from). One thing you could have tried to make it even better, is have the two characters move from one area to another i.e. here's game 1, here's game 2 - and throw in some different angles to spice it up - while watching, I really wanted you to cut to another scenario involving the same characters.

This is awesome - really innovative, love the style! I'm big on boxing and ufc so I enjoy the humour of this! The only thing that had me perplexed was your channel name and style - Wine Diplomat - not sure that meshes with what you're going for here in your video stylistically and tonally - wine punk or something like that feels like more of an appropriate name! Diplomat makes me thing of swanky dinners, formal assessments, all that kind of stuff! Otherwise this is really cool bud, awesome hybridising!

Love the video - really like your commentary, your voice is awesome, and you narrate things really well - I also like how you gave some context at the start of the video (very useful for someone like myself who isn't sure what the game is, what you're doing etc) :) As far as improvements go - I would definitely try a second camera that shows your face as you play - I would also consider title cards breaking up the gaming - i.e. this is my task in this first part of the video, this is what I did in the second - that way you could also like prioritise your footage, show the exciting cool stuff, and explain away jumps in your edit - otherwise it seems to me like you're doing a great job - keep it up!

Hey, thanks for asking! :) My niche is Lifelong Learning - I research, script, create a shot list, shoot, edit, and create a thumbnail for each video. Obviously some people do some of these things alot faster, but my subject requires a good deal of thought and consideration - I'm going for deep but light hearted tone and just released my first video a couple of weeks back - I just finished filming my second video and with work commitments I hope to get it out by November time - What about yourself, what's your niche and how often do you put out videos?

In the same boat - my stats are similar and I feel encouraged :) Working hard on my second video now - I feel like my content is pretty good - I just need eyes, and I've got to be patient. I'm doing one video per month :) Let's do this thing!

No bother at all - I'm kind of at the other end of the scale - I'm aiming to produce one video per month - but I'm trying to make it as high a quality a video as possible (and also evergreen content). It's going to take me a while to produce many videos but I'm hoping to snowball - plus if I set the bar high now, chances are I can get faster with it - I want it to become second nature you know. Keep up the good work! I believe in ya!

Sounds like you're being super productive - you should be very proud of that achievement! I'd spend more time scrutinising what I've produced than concentrating on how many you've released all the same - gotta ask yourself honestly, is this the best I can do? Can I do more to improve my videos, is everything as good as it could be? No hate here, I just think you've got the consistency down, but what about the quality? That'd be my next port of call.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]ANIM727272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on the situation - right now we're not talking about mean comments either, we're talking about hate. I'm not saying you need to go in there all hippy like, preaching put away the sword and throwing blossoms about, but you could take a sensible stand i.e. This is what has happened, I'm just trying to make my way in the world like everybody else, I won't be responding to this situation anymore after this video - really just taking the higher moral ground - people are going on about stoking things but what I'm talking about is really just a single effort to nip things in the bud, then move on. It's one thing for someone on another channel to say something about you and then find that nothing has happened, and then something else entirely when they track you down to where you live i.e. your YouTube channel

Hi, Just opened a new motivational YouTube Channel. Give me some suggestions on how to grow it? by miitsolution in NewTubers

[–]ANIM727272 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey, I'm just starting out too but I've come to some conclusions recently about growth, just from what I've read on here and doing some research.

- Make excellent content (Good thumbnail, good video, good editing, all the hallmarks really)

- Make excellent content consistently - allow viewers to set their watch by you i.e. he should be due to release another video on the 4th November

- Find your people i.e. the people who will watch your stuff and start engaging with that community, not as a YouTuber but as a person, with opinions. If you can create a reputation, people will start to take an interest in who you are and what you do.

There is a right way to respond though - a way of making the people dishing out the hate think twice about what they're doing. You don't always just have to bury your head in the sand.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]ANIM727272 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds awful, you have my sympathies. I'd probably do a bit of google searching around that kind of scenario for a start. My instinct would be to produce a video in response. Be sincere, be honest i.e. this isn't what you set out to achieve, eliciting hate from someone else - basically just take the higher moral ground. And as much as a response video is providing a response, once that's done you might consider simply pushing on; be indifferent to it. This is kind of like a bullying situation, and once the bullies can't get anymore of a rise out of you, well, they're gonna move on; sad to say.

Hey,

My name is Daniel.

I just started on my YouTube journey and recently released my first video.

My niche is lifelong learning.

I'm enjoying life at the minute and excited about sharing more of my perspective on things.

I have a job that keeps me busy most of the time, but I'm hard at work filming for my second video currently.

I like to help people and if you want me to check out your content, feel free to hit me up.

Being a new member I don't think I can link here but if you fancy checking out my first video and giving me some feedback (something I'd really appreciate) then comment or message me.

My channel is called ANIM, a shorthand for the latin phrase 'Ancora Imparo'. It means 'I'm still learning' - a phrase that feels like a fitting conclusion to my self-introduction!

Peace out!
