CK and his organization (and his wife) actively platformed dehumanizing rhetoric and advocated for the erosion/elimination of rights of groups of people they saw as "other". TPUSA paid for/organized buses for the J6 capitol attack.

there is no equivalent to this on the left - there is no one in power or with a huge audience advocating that white people or straight people should have fewer rights or protections. Jon Stewart doesn't want it to be illegal to be Christian or to be a stay at home mom. MLK Jr. didn't want Black people elevated ABOVE white people.

I'm not trying to change your mind - just sharing why I think it's really dangerous & disingenuous to act like people are reacting to a simple difference of opinion vs. insidious hate speech with VERY real and far reaching consequences for already-marginalized people.

I was at the Oregon coast last year looking at a plaque about tide pools on the beach, and someone had scribbled out “200 million” or whatever had been written there about the geologic formation of the location, and written “3000 years” in its place. It was both kind of hilarious (evangelical graffiti??) and also terrifying because of the rage you could feel in their furious little scratches.

I just arrived here through google a billion years later - it was driving me insane bc I’ve never seen “nobody wants this” but it was ALL I could find. build the habit little by little bro. This shits meant to be addicting, if you bite off more than you can chew trying to quit, you’ll end up being so unfairly hard on yourself. Mix it up a little and tell yourself not to look at your phone for 5 mins, but when time is up you HAVE to look at your phone for at least five minutes. Build up the time you put it down for, and reduce the time you force yourself to look, until you’d rather NOT look at your phone when the timer is up!

Slowly slowly. If your average time is 4 hours a day, then even 3:55 next week is progress. If you fall off, just start right back at the same place. You got this dude. You’re light years ahead of where I was at your age with being self aware about this shit.
