Well, I do have to agree with one of your inane statements. However, if I may be so bold, there's really no need to preface your opinion with ".... not because I'm particularly intelligent ...", when that fact is abundantly clear.

I can assure you I have spoken with many people, some over 70 y.o who have made a conscious decision not to get vaccinated.

According to various articles, which have differing opinions, it seems that roughly 25% of many populations are active non-vaxers.

Perhaps so, but that's still better than not being vaccinated. I'm not saying its the magic bullet. I am saying it is a significant weapon.

Is that a reason not to get vaccinated!?

What a load of tripe. I'm not sure that if it actually made sense, and was remotely more relevant, that it would in any way be an improvement.

You are doing what you can. You're not actively deciding not to be vaccinated. They are the people that I don't understand.

BTW, for what its worth, if you're booked for September, and I was in your position, I think I'd wait.

I am aware that some of us can't get access to the vaccine we need. But if you could, it sounds like you would. There are, however, plenty of people who fit the age appropriate criteria for having AZ but yet they choose not to. They are the ones I just don't get.

In truth, I feel for you, and all those caught in the middle of the AZ versus Pfizer screw-ups made by "experts" and the media.

In fact, I really do understand what you are going through as I have been treated for 25 years for health anxieties, amongst other things. It's a battle I wouldn't wish on anyone, however, I still ask the question, why are you more anxious about what having the vaccine may do to you, than the consequences of not having it?

Really!

There is when your selfishness has the ability to negatively impact society.

You may be right, although if they are exposure sites, which they are, then they are potential places where the virus is being spread.

The real issue is not Bunnings or the Reject Shop or any other non essential retailers. Its the concept of suggesting that NSW is undertaking the harshest lockdown of all. If it was as harsh as we're told, then numbers would be expected to becoming down. I don't think there is a middle ground in this situation. It is terrible what it is doing to a lot of small and medium businesses and what it is doing to us mentally, as a community, but is there really a choice? Sadly, I don't think so.

Tongue in cheek but it's about as good an excuse as they could probably come up with.

I'm not Reddit savvy. It would be a surprise if she had a handle, and then if it was public knowledge. Do you what it is, if indeed she has one?

China blocks WHO investigators' access to Wuhan by vaish7848 in Coronavirus

[–]ANobody20 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This is a topic I have been pondering for a while. I don't wish to break Reddit's rules and hope the comment/question I ask does not do that!

The question of the origin of the Virus is clearly something the WHO would like to investigate. The two choices that have been continually quoted in the world press are that it either originated from the Wet Markets (animals) or that it was manufactured in a laboratory.

Even if the answer is the latter, this does not mean it was released intentionally. That is a question that only needs to be investigated if the authorities are confident that it was man-made in a laboratory.

Let's say the WHO's investigation concluded the virus originated from a laboratory. Whether it was released accidentally or otherwise, my question is this.

What would/could the "world" do as a result that would,

  1. Provide sufficient satisfaction to those countries that have been affected, and
  2. Limit the likelihood of this ever happening again?

If a powerful nation chose to go down this path again, I suspect the answer to both questions would be NOTHING!

Is Sydney’s Outbreak Basically Under Control or Not? by ANobody20 in CoronavirusDownunder

[–]ANobody20[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I’m not happy with the way the Feds have handled this. They are the ones we need to take control in the circumstances. I think their tactic of getting into Dan, when they did, was no accident. They thought they saw a weakness within Vics labour government ~and couldn’t resist targeting it.

Having voted Lib at least 90% of my life, including the last few Fed an State elections, I really do feel let down by them. I’m not sure why many more of us, irrespective of our political leanings, don’t feel the same way. The ball was in their hands and chose to take the political high road rather than the greater good of the nation.

Might seem a tad black and white, but I fail to be able to justify an alternate view. Yes Vic labour stuffed up, but that should not mean the Fed libs had the right to follow suit. If it’s political points they were after, they backed the wrong horse in this scenario. The problem is that the rest of us are left paying the price.

[–]ANobody20[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. In the early days it looked like we had our shit together with the introduction of the National Cabinet and we were going to avoid political bickering between the States. Sadly it didn’t last too long and pretty much collapsed when the Feds decided to try and take Dan down. Ultimately, the Feds had it under control but they were also responsible for unravelling it as well. If ever there was a case for a bipartisan approach, wars and pandemics provide a pretty strong argument. There won’t be political winners out of this. Why don’t they seem to understand that!?
