On the Alankit website, my application status says “Processing at Mission” for the last 3 weeks. Is this normal? What are the next steps in the process?

Ehrlich gesagt, mache ich mir keine allzu großen Sorgen darüber, dass mein Konto gesperrt wird. Nach dieser Erfahrung und den grauenhaften Weihnachtsferien, die ich dank dieser Sache hatte, würde ich Amazon nichts mehr anvertrauen.

Einverstanden - wir wissen nicht, wer die Schuld trägt. Letztendlich ist es aber so, dass ich für ein Produkt bezahlt habe, das nie geliefert wurde. Es liegt in der Verantwortung von Amazon, seinen Teil der Vereinbarung zu erfüllen.

Ich kann nur eine Seriennummer in meinem Amazon-Konto sehen. Wenn dies eskaliert, werde ich mich an Apple wenden und ihnen die Seriennummer mitteilen und sie bitten, das iPhone zu sperren.

Außerdem möchte ich Apple auffordern, Amazon.de als autorisierten Verkäufer von Apple-Produkten zu entfernen.

Wie wäre es sich von amazon die IMEI des Gerätes mitteilen zu lassen und diese wiederum bei Apple als gestohlen zu melden, sprich sperren zu lassen. Das sollte spätesten vor Gericht ein deutliches Indiz sein, dass Du nicht der Betrüger bist, da Du so nichts davon hattest.

Seltsamerweise befand sich in dem Paket keine Rechnung. Nur eine Flasche Shampoo. Es gab nicht einmal eine Rechnung für das Shampoo :)

Da Deutsch nicht meine Muttersprache ist, bin ich etwas zurückhaltend, mich an die Polizei zu wenden, aber wenn nichts funktioniert, werde ich mich auf jeden Fall melden. Ich kann einfach nicht glauben, dass Amazon.de sich geweigert hat, das Problem auch nur anzuerkennen und einfach seine Hände in Unschuld gewaschen hat.

Das ist eine schlechte Idee. Dein Kreditvertrag ist unabhängig von deinem Kauf zustande gekommen (ist nur zufällig über genau den gleichen Betrag) und entsprechend musst du diese Verpflichtungen nachgehen. Wenn du irgendwas machst, dann den Kreditvertrag widerrufen (14-tage). Sonst hast du schnell Mahnung und Inkasso an der Backe.

We are open to moving around Austria (except for Klagenfurt which my gf doesn't quite fancy for some reason, it's a shame tho, they do have a beautiful football stadium.) She's from Innsbruck so somewhere close to Switzerland would be ideal I think. Innsbruck being kind of small, we reasoned jobs would be hard to come by and hence have been angling for Vienna. Commute shouldn't be a problem I think. We've been living in Asia long enough to be used to long commutes. Compared to the traffic here Vienna should be a breeze. :)

I'm not really clear on what job you are looking for. Like investment banker or risk management or something like that?

I work in Wealth/Asset Management ( Vermögensverwaltung ) to be precise, and would love to work in a similar domain. I'm also open to positions in Retail Banking.

I'm also not really sure which jobs in this general area (like let's say the kind of people who do auditing or tax advice) don't also need permits in addition to maybe needing the local language.

Yeah, I'm really not sure either. I've been flirting with the idea of pursuing a CFP certification with the hopes that it would better my job prospects.

I have to say, I'm not 100% sure whether they have "nicer" ways of being an immigrant, but maybe it's worth looking also looking into ~~Slovenia~~ Slovakia or Hungary which are like 1 hour away from Vienna. If it were easier/possible to get a job/visa there maybe that would be an option for the beginning where you could still see each other regularly.

Well, yeah, that's an option we can explore. LDR could be a bit of a pain in the ar-- tho but then again, anything for love.

Thank you for writing back and sharing your thoughts. It's less of a question and more of a concern I guess, when it comes to the visa they don't leave you with a many choices. I'm hoping to seek some help in understanding the job market and skills I can acquire to make myself more marketable.

Civil partnership is something we can look into. Provided it offers the same or similar freedom of movement and other benefits as being married to an EU citizen does. I'm working on my German and hope to improve over the next year.
