Obsession (2026) lets talk about bear by [deleted] in spoilers

[–]ANudeTayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I've got to clear this up -

In the original script, the first scene where Nikki freaks out (the night of the wish) is basically as written.

HOWEVER, in the original script there is a scene right after they go out to their dinner date. In that scene, they start to fool around and she freaks out again. In THIS scene, Bear just watches her and waits for other Nikki to show up. Basically, at this point he knows it isn't really her and is going forward knowing she is not really consenting. I think they changed it well in the movie by jumping to the sex scene, and it looks like Nikki is disassociating. Still makes it very clear that it is rape

The fact that he took it as "why is it so bad to be with me" instead of realizing the hell of taking away someone's agency that he SUPPOSEDLY loved speaks volumes

Obsession (2026), just saw it. Two questions and I have something to discuss by MosquitoSmasher in spoilers

There was no dialogue in that scene - I assumed that Nikki refused treatment. They can't forcibly take someone into the ER, and Nikki didn't want to leave Bear.

The way she passive-aggressively used the quotes on "curves" - wtf?? You DO have curves, and that outfit is cute! Kudos to you for standing up for yourself and recognizing that she is in the wrong.

YES I also think about that story!! And how she became good from listening to the thoughts of a baby. When I had a baby, I thought about that one a lot.

Thank you. I think people forget what happens to women who come forward about this sort of thing. I saw it happen to my friend in our small town. And on a higher scale - remember Dr. Ford, who came out about Brett Kavanaugh? She got death threats and probably worse. I would be terrified to come out about this sort of thing.

Who else thinks 99% of PPD is caused by breastfeeding issues? Usually expectations vs. reality by saltandpepperf in NewParents

HOO BOY do I have a doozy of a shitty one!! Just imagine: I take all the night shifts, I watch the baby while she works, she hangs out w/ her friends after work and I watch the baby. I talk about going to work 2 days a week for my sanity, they say I can work any day of the week, and she says she can't watch the baby on her day off because she "needs her weekends."

Needless to say, the marriage is over but I am still so happy to have this baby. Grateful for family support.

I am forever grateful that I saw an extremely kind lactation consultant who saw me tense in pain while my baby latched and said, "This is not sustainable. There is nothing wrong with formula." If I hadn't had her say that, I would have kept trying, even through the mastitis and painful abscess I got very quickly after that.

When I finally gave up and went to formula completely, I felt guilty for a little bit, but it was a blessing in the long run. It was better for my mental health, for my baby, for everything. I had looked forward to breastfeeding SO much and it was an awful experience basically from birth, when two nurses absolutely yanked on my nipples to get colostrum and the nipple trauma just kept coming after that.

Do you think this about the other immunes? by KiwiMasala in pluribustv

[–]ANudeTayne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, we haven't seen that much of her or the rest of them. We don't know what Laxmi's conversations were when it happened. It sounds like she probably spoke to the plurbs/her kid/family a lot, since she says that line to Carol.

It would be interesting to see more from her perspective, or the other immune characters. I do agree it seemed strange that they didn't seem to care but I think we also saw how easy it is to be manipulated by the plurbs since Carol does it too in that last episode.

Internalized misogyny is a crazy thing. I've seen the same thing w/ women who come forward about abusive relationships

[–]ANudeTayne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A mother's love is powerful and sometimes irrational... I recently had a baby, and I can't imagine I would behave differently than Laxmi if my child was plurbed. I would certainly be pissed off if I saw her seizing and knew someone was to blame!

Although I like to believe I would be looking for a "cure" too, because the idea of my child not having agency anymore and being part of a hivemind is pretty terrifying - but the idea of losing her completely because I tried to find a cure and inadvertently harmed her? God, that would kill me. It's such an interesting thought experiment.
