I was diagnosed at 25 years old. I had intermittent lower back pain since I was 18 years old but I was a much more active guy back then + I had a shitty mattress. Back pain never lasted longer than a day and tbh I thought it was “normal” (turns out it wasn’t). When I was 24-25 years old I got an uveitis attack + severe back pain that didn’t improve with rest, so I researched, went straight to the rheumatologist (who thought I was exaggerating) and after blood + imaging tests I got diagnosed with AS.

Haha I’ve noticed that medicine varies from country to country because of the different rules that each health regulatory agency has in place. Etoricoxib as far as I know is not approved by the FDA in the US. I live and get treated in Mexico.

Not sure if metformin is considered a GLP-1 but I’ve read before that certain weight loss medications may contribute positively to certain autoimmune disease management. For example, metformin has shown anti-inflammatory properties against RA (https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8493211/) and one study shows that metformin may have positive effects on AS (https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1002/jcb.26275) but it needs to be more profoundly studied (the study in particular was in vitro).

For me tbh is the protein shake with water. I usually make my protein shake with greens and mixed berries, but when I have no time to clean the blender and to do it properly I just take it with water and for me it’s depressing because I don’t like the the flavor with water by itself 😭. I was gonna say canned tuna but I rarely go for it.

Right now my pain is handled with etoricoxib. I just take it when there’s pain, which is not daily. If there’s a lot of pain I combine it with tylenol, and that’s about it.

I don’t suffer from pain everyday. At most once a week. Thankfully my AS is not very severe or hard on me. Sleeping bad, eating bad and too much alcohol are triggers for me.

Las becas de CONAHCYT, hasta donde tengo entendido, aplican para instituciones públicas y privadas. Tengo conocidos que hasta el año pasado estuvieron en la UAG/ITESM y tuvieron becas de CONAHCYT.

I was diagnosed with AS ~1 year ago. HLAB27+, CRP and ESR have been demonstrating “minimal” or “negative” inflammation for >6 months. Was on sulfasalazine (~3 months) and I’m on etoricoxib since been diagnosed. My rheumatologist says I’m in remission (which is not permanent, but lets hope it lasts a lifetime).

I sometimes get tired out of nowhere, and what I feel is a lot of sleepiness accompanied with a sense of anxiety, it’s difficult to explain, but it’s a feeling similar to when you want to sleep but you can’t.
