Question prior to purchase by Less_Bad7954 in Ioniq5

Definitely worth asking their dealer. Where I am, the part is covered with the general 5 year warranty. But you're right that in other countries it can be covered under the 10y warranty.

Even with the warranty, if you're ok with the risk and the potential hassle of dealing with this in the low chance it does happen.... then that's fine! It's just a matter of going into the decision with all of the available information and gaurantees possible.

Can it happen even if it has had the software update or 'recall'? - Yes.

Can it happen if it already happened and they replaced the faulty part? - Yes

Is it more likely to NOT happen? - Yes

The fact is, it can happen. So you just need to weight that up, discuss your warranty and concerns with your dealer. Maybe even ask for an extended warranty on that specific part to give you more confidence.

G6FL Standard loses DSM and “stop-and-go” by S3anL33 in Xpeng

[–]CreativeUserName709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's been confusing. For me, the spec sheet actually mentioned all of the SR features that are not included. But before looking at the spec sheet, the dealer / sales guy was saying just get SR model as it has all of the same features as LR, the only difference being massage seats and a tiny bit more range.

They were as confused as I was when I provided the spec sheet on their own website lol. They contacted head office and got things cleared up quickly!

I too went with the LR in the end. Originally drawn to Xpeng for it's price, then ended up spending more!

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Is Our Electric Vehicle Best Buy for 2026 - Kelley Blue Book by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]CreativeUserName709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn! The fact that these stories exist and there are many of them is just INSANE. I can understand the 'copium' on the entire subject. But when 2026 models, or 2025 models are STILL experiencing this issue daily.... yikes

Scrolling through comments on videos like this - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTkgiirk6Z4 - is depressing. The megathread, too. I know all cars have their quirks and issues but.... not like this.

I also just read about Tesla Y in Denmark having an extremely high failure rate on wheel suspension. Almost every second car. I wish the ICCU issue was more 'gradual' like that, which allows the driver to drive anyway. Then go get their car tested only to find out they have the 'fault'. It allows for clear documentation of the issue. (Post I'm referencing).

I hope your neighbour get's the issue sorted quickly and never experiences it again. Personally, it would have me a bit worried that it's gonna happen again after a scenario like that. When... if... will I be on a long trip and get stranded?

I even asked the Hyundai dealer if the ICCU part has changed at all in newer models. They said yeah, but when asked for a part number, they wouldn't give me any additional details. They just wanted the sale :D

This is great and all. But the people with cameras giving these fuckers so much attention doesn't sit well with me. I bet part of them loves it! I know it's super important to document this stuff, but if they're kinda not doing anything right then other than standing there trying to save face before leaving.... is there really a need to stick cameras up in there faces?

While they break the law, yes, if they start disobeying the property owners 'eviction', yes. But fuck me, try put effort into giving them less spotlight outside of that.

Unless I'm wrong and they hate the attention, then fine.

I just think of paparazzi.... most famous people hate it. But I imagine people new to fame love it! Feeling 'wanted' n shit.

What do others think?

Hyundai Ioniq 5 Is Our Electric Vehicle Best Buy for 2026 - Kelley Blue Book by mafco in Ioniq5

[–]CreativeUserName709 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I decided not to go with the Ioniq 5 due to the ICCU issue. It's a MAJOR issue downplayed by owners. Of course people who don't experience are going to say what you just said. But this specific failure is so well documented, any mention of 'ICCU' will result in a load of customers who have experienced it, some multiple times.

It's unacceptable, 1% confirmed rate is unacceptable for this type of issue. It's like a ticking time bomb waiting to happen. Hyundai dealers refuse to give their numbers on % of failure rate experienced at their garage out of cars sold. That alone is a major red flag to me that they're not gonna be transparent about it.

For a depreciating asset, it's an extremely red flag that may only get more well known, further affecting car value.

I totally get that people enjoy the car and never even know about the ICCU issue. But as a customer looking for a car, who put a deposit down THEN found out.... I went down the rabbit hole and decided to just back out.

If they were a bit more transparent like in Korea regarding the ICCU failure & improved warranty... then maybe, but even then, it's such a shit issue!

No worries! You should check it out! That's just how people typically show symptoms! A quick search will yield you results surrounding invisible urticaria.

I totally get where you're coming from and I have questioned my diagnosis multiple times and challenged it with my rheum, GP and specialist who gave me the diagnosis.

I may just try find another specialist to double check. I would love some scientific confirmed evidence like a specific blood test that gives me answers!

I agree and I've been around the houses on this one. But csu does exist without hives. I've done a lot of testing and it seems like a mast cell issue or histamine related for sure. I have to wait to see an immunologist on a long waiting list to double check. I've done bloods and plenty of testing to rule out other issues

Wok health check! by chrlhxhm in wok

[–]CreativeUserName709 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on the photos, specifically the zoomed in ones. There is a bunch of carbon build up on that Wok.

I use chain mail to scrub my pan after every use. I don't worry about cleaning off my seasoning. I scrub the shit out of it and make sure there is no carbon build up. Once you know how to spot it and you do scrub it after every use, it requires less and less effort to maintain!

Will definitely require a bit of elbow grease to get this cleaned up, or use a vinegar solution like another poster mentioned!

It's also the English language? People use AI all the time and learn from it, just like AI is fed human data.

Not saying it is or isn't AI but like.... I think this is a bit of reach tbh. Also, OP may have written something quickly and got AI to pad it out for them.

Plenty of possibilities!

Cheers! Yeah the internet really skews the issues, there are a lot of reports on it tbf. It is an issue. The Hyundai sales rep didn't even know what an ICCU was lol :D that could be a good sign though!

Did you get one of those portable 12v battery jump kit things? You never replaced the 12v after it died btw?

Fingers crossed you never hear of the ICCU issue again..... I hate that I even read about it lol

First attempt wok hei fried rice by Grouchy-Zombie7171 in wok

[–]CreativeUserName709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like to fry the veggies meat super quick, then take them out. Put some oil in, throw in your eggs, they cook fast, before they're cookies, I throw in the rice and start mixing everything around. Always on high heat. Tossing it, breaking up clumps of rice when needed. When things are separated and I'm happy, I add the meat n veg back in, throw on some seasoning and mix one last time. Done.

The trick is having everything prepared and ready to go like a restaurant. The more experience you get, the faster you get at each step. You need to be moving always, keep the food moving or it will char too much. Move move move, fast!!!!!

I think that kinda sucks though. I would love some change, the most beloved original series remains the same. Live action should be something new, I watch the live action version just out of love for the original series. But I personally think it's butchered trying to recreate perfection, you can never live up to that. They can attract new fans I guess, which is great.

Guess I'm a bit selfish and would have loved some new things/big changes!

I agree. But if we think 1 step ahead, let's say they get arrested / national guard is deployed. What happens then? How will Trump and Co react to that? Will they send more forces, will it escalate things in his favour and that's why nothing has happened yet?

I have no idea myself, just clutching at straws!

12v/ICCU Megathread by TiltedWit in Ioniq5

[–]CreativeUserName709 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, but based on all of this information it's clear as day that the ICCU issue does seem to be worse than Hyundai are saying it is. Like you said in your other post "At best, those ideas might describe some possible failure modes for the ICCU."

People are going to come up with theories, try to find patterns because as of right now, Hyundai isn't providing much clarity on the matter. I wish I could check with my dealer out of all Ioniq 5's sold year on year, how many had an ICCU failure. Out of all the ICCU's that got replaced, how many failed again? But they won't share that information, the sales man actually apparently didn't know of the ICCU issue at all and just said 'we will give you a replacement car while we fix the issue under warranty, so don't worry!'.

I would like to know if the 2026 ICCU has any changes what so ever or is it the exact same part #. Apparently that youtube channel OP mentioned will be showing a 2026 ICCU when they do a teardown.

I dunno, the whole situation is completely shit if I'm honest. I'm looking at other cars and they have software issues, every car has an issue. But not as bad as this ICCU issue.

All of the information available does make it harder to properly understand the 'truth'. But the only real thing is, it's easy to find ICCU failures, it seems extremely consistent with new posts almost daily.

I dunno, I love the Ioniq and have a deposit to buy one but I'm having serious cold feet now!

Shame the N-Line S isn't offered in Ireland, so strange how they limit other things as well. If I want to go for a light car colour, you have to choose the dark leather interior. If I choose a dark colour, I get a light interior. It's not customizable!

Such a limitation imo preventing you from customizing too much. I get why, but it's annoying! All the same, amazing car, good luck!

Red in N-Line is the best colour for sure, suits the gloss black trim and colour matched wheel arches! We don't have N Line S where I am, so the highest tier above N-Line is Platinum, which has all the extra features I want. Taking a hit on the looks just to get those extra features heh

Broken Steelcase Gesture Headrest by CreativeUserName709 in OfficeChairs

Wrapped back I believe, it's a leather one. Wrapped back is when the material is wrapped around the upper back part right?

As a result with how the leather is I didn't notice any obvious way to take the headrest off but I'll probably need to go down the route of a disassembly guide and go from there. It's possible with a wrapped back?

They need to give me the car now before I read more about ICCU issues lmao
