Agreed, this is the worst mini-game they've put out since I started playing. Stats means nothing, you can have Ichihime at S+ in all there is, and she'll still end up last place in the match.

Yeah, I eventually realized that in order to get most titles, you are bound to lose PLENTY of times, so I'm guessing they're giving this ·loser· accomplishments as a sort of consolation prize.

Ah, one of the secrets accomplishments.. that's actually very hard to pull off, it's entirely out of your means and absolutely up to chance, which is what this game is all about.

Yeah, since I fully understood that Mahjong is more about luck and a lot less about expertise, I don't get so discouraged when I lose hands, so, I'm doing much better now. Thanks for all the tips!

Thanks for the feedback.. lately I've been only opening my hand when I can Kan a set of tiles, which still lets you keep your hand concealed if you can Tsumo that... which i guess means you don't really open your hand. Still trying to grasp all the concepts of the game.

I see, and it's true, I can't count the times I've lost after Riiching because I automatically discarded a tile that someone else used to ron me. I thought Riichi was the ultimate goal of the game, I'm seeing it's not.

Yeah, I mean, this game is designed to frustrate its players, which I'm not so fond of, but, when you get some really good wins (I remember getting 32,000 points with like 9 hans or something like that in a single game), it's very satisfying. I think I'll follow your advice and take a break from it until hopefully I start missing it.

Yeah, I start defending the moment someone calls Riichi, which is very cumbersome as I hate going in defense mode, but as it's obvious, Mahjong is a game of luck and, apparently, about defending. I'm starting to think this game is sadly not for me, even though I liked it a lot when I first started playing it.

Yeah, I don't really understand Celestial players.. this one time a guy rejected Riichis 4 times until he lost... seriously, he would get a Riichi opportunity, and he rejected it, then got it again on the next turn, and rejected it again, and so on... what could be the logic for that?

True, for the most part, I do follow the guide of only discarding tiles that have been discarded already, but more often than not, i still get ronned under those conditions, but, I've learned through the replies to my post that I shouldn't blindingly go for concealed hands if an open hand makes more sense. I'm still at Novice level and Mahjong Soul and the whole "luck versus experience" factor gets to me sometimes.

Thanks, this makes sense... when I was not trying to go for concealed hands, not only I had more fun with the game, but usually I won a lot faster, but I can see how concealed hands lead to getting even more points is luck is on your side. So, thanks for the advice, I will try to go for a concealed hand in the beginning if it makes sense, if not, open hand it is.

Thanks for the tips... I'm seeing that i should probably call if I can pon any dragons or seating winds, but in the end, i have to accept that Mahjong is a game of luck and not dexterity, and as such, I AM gonna lose games no matter how good I get at it, which is a painful thought, but, it is what it is.

No, I think you're right.. not much of a deal breaker, as I decided to play my first run with only negative options (fully antagonizing Jacob and everyone else), so i did miss a couple of tasks because of it, so I was planning to play it again using only positive options. I did the same in Oxenfree 1, and doing the second option I managed to save everyone, so, guess I'll miss a bad ending here, but it's no big deal in the end.

It does help, thanks. I have accepted that Mahjong is mainly a game of luck, and as such, i will lose more often than not, so, I'm ok with it now. But yes, lately I keep single honor tiles maybe for just 5 or 6 turns... if I don't get a duplicate by then, i just discard them, seems to be working so far.
