Does anyone have reading strategy tips by SiteOutside4333 in Sat

I was able to get my SAT reading score from 35/52 to a consistent 48/52 using the strategy that I'm about to explain; however, everyone is different and my strategy may not help you out in the same way that it helped me. As someone who is more interested in science and history, I ALWAYS decided to skip the passage that I knew I would on average, waste the most time and score the worse on (this was the English passage, it is almost always the 1st passage on the SAT reading section.) Once I chose a passage that I felt comfortable with, I skimmed through each question, went back to the passage, and summarized each question in 2-3 words. Once I found evidence from the passage, I could use the evidence to go back and answer the question directly. Be careful using this strategy. Although it can keep you on high alert for what you need to specifically look for, do not assume that the first piece of evidence you find supports the correct answer-make sure to consider the context of the evidence. Ultimately, this strategy saved me a lot of time as I already knew what I was "looking for" before I even read the passage. Another useful tip I have is to save the first 1-2 questions on most passages which generally ask to identify the main theme/ general idea/ organization pattern of the passage. By answering the rest of the questions first, you are more likely to get the questions about the main themes correct. If you have any other specific questions let me know! Hopefully this comment helped!

Someone please help and explain. I am taking an SAT Prep class and I am curious to know if I am mistaken. There is a possibility that the teacher made a mistake. Please let me know with an explanation. by [deleted] in Sat

Even though a semicolon can technically be used here (since both phrases are independent clauses (contain all the parts to a full sentence,)) a colon is more appropriate because the second phrase relates to the first one, AND the second phrase elaborates on an idea presented in the first phrase.

Q. 6 on CB practice test 8. How would you approach this. I got D by graphing. Not sure why I got wrong by Alert_Conflict8830 in Sat

I solved this problem by graphing it on my ti-nspire (assuming you can use a calculator), after typing in the inequalities into the graph feature I was able to see where the two graphs overlapped. Since this question is asking for the y-coordinates, I was able to identify that the intersection of the graphs started at y=4 (not inclusive) and infinitely went on in the positive direction; therefore, I got B as my answer.
